This is actually a scaled down version of the original plan, which was to admit 2000 fans to these test matches.
Cambridge United have already hosted a game with attendance capped at 1000, which was deemed a success. Such low crowds guarantee that social distancing can be easily achieved inside and outside the stadium, although hopefully it can be scaled up sooner rather than later.
For lower league clubs especially, getting some fans back into stadiums is absolutely crucial to their survival. Coronavirus isn't going away any time soon, so now is as good a time as any to start bringing back fans, otherwise many many clubs will cease to exist.
Glad to see there will be fans back at a Northampton game, even if we are playing away from home this weekend. Hopefully all goes well.
