Football Discussion

If I was a Reading fan right now, I'd be [expletive removed]...

Unlucky to the royals though, it's a game they should have won, it went over the extra time limit so they were so unlucky.

Brilliant match though, And congratulations to Bradford on beating Wigan! Amazing to see a League 2 team in the quarter finals, shall be supporting them

:)

Team Edit: Expletive removed. Please do not swear outside the Tavern forum.

It didn't go over extra time... The 6th and 7th for Arsenal were within time added on. Their 4th however, very very late!

I was referring to the extra time for the 90 mins, not the extra time for the extra time ;)

Your team was in a lot better shape than ours was.

A few idiots? There's no other match that comes close to the Goodison derby when it comes to things that get picked up by the mics. Nice of the victims chant to come back out as well.

We threw socks onto the pitch when you were planning on moving to Kirkby. Your lot have thrown coins at our players the last two derbys. But I guess that's in your blood considering the bananas that got threw at John Barnes in the 80s.

"WE DON'T CARE WHAT THE RED SHITE SAY, BUT WE'LL RELEASE A PR STATEMENT WHEN A RIVAL MANAGER CALLS US A SMALL CLUB"

That coming from a fan of a club famous for singing about a plane crash that killed 23 people.

And you mention that why? Nothing to do with Everton.

Can't wait for all the meffs to start photoshopping John Terry into the Arsenal game and for "Reading lost 4-0 lead? #BLAMESUAREZ" #EPL #BANTZ to start. And there will be lots because Arsenal are the worst for it. Maybe Frimpong will post a picture of a dead guy again.

I hate football.

If you want to bring actions of idiotic individuals into the topic in an attempt to taint the image of the majority of Everton fans, then expect me to do the same to Liverpool fans.

On the Everton vs Liverpool front, Gerrard's comments regarding Liverpool being the only side playing football etc were delusional and somewhat bitter. I have a lot of respect for Steven Gerrard but his comments were silly and I think he will regret saying them on reflection. I unfortunately didn't see the whole game but a lot of people have said that they thought Everton would have gone on to win the game if Mirallas hadn't gone off injured. Everton are undoubtedly a better team than Liverpool at present.

As for tonight's game, just wow! It has to be one of the best games of football I have ever watched. Quite remarkable. I really do feel do Reading though, they're going to find it hard to come back from that.

:)

Oh the irony! :p

Just seen the Reading v Arsenal game highlights on SSN, and wow, what a game!

Although Scunthorpe winning at Derby on penalties after being 5-3 down with a minute left is still the best comeback of the season. ;)

We're not in the business of singing songs at teams we're not playing. It happens, and it's vile, and it's going to continue after what United did to us in September, but it doesn't happen at Everton. That's a snidey shot to deflect from the coin throwing, banana throwing, and sick chants and shouts from Everton fans. Singing "always the victims" at your own city, after everything that's come out, and after putting on such a show of solidarity, to then piss it away like that, is just as bad, if not worse. And this small minority must be pretty vocal considering how easily audible it is every time and how many coins get thrown.

banana throwing

That was a bad incident, without doubt. But lets remember that happened in the 80's, which was a dark time for those sort of incidents and racism in the game in general. However, I'm yet to see our squad wearing shirts supporting a player guilty of being a racist while warming up, and I take it you remember the Oldham player being racially abused by your fans last season? Or the Liverpool fan caught on camera who was making chimp gestures at Evra?

Hypocrisy of the highest level in my opinion.

Are you trying to score points or are you genuinely this stupid?

So it was ok because it was the 80s? I guess slavery was ok because it was the 18th century and everyone was doing it.

The shirts were worn WAY before he was found guilty. The club made a public statement of support for the player before the hearing because they did not feel there was any evidence of him abusing Evra and the media already deciding he was racist without any proof.

The fan accused of abusing the Oldham player was found not guilty. The player misheard 'Manc' as 'black'. Do your research. The last I heard the one making chimp gestures was found guilty and banned for life. But he was making the gestures at the United crowd, not Evra, so again, you've not actually done much reading into anything, have you?

Guyyyss, you're talking about teams here. Neither of you play for them; there's absolutely no need to get personal.

Caaalm!

It's only a game... ;)

Sorry, but if you thinks that's what I was inferring, you have to either be delusional, or are now just trolling. My basic point was that back in those days most clubs had incidents where people in the crowd racially abused players, so for you to target Everton out is just you trying to degrade the image of the club, in my opinion.

I actually laughed at that:

20th December: Suarez found guilty of racially abusing Evra.
21st December: Liverpool players wear the Suarez t-shirts in the warm up before drawing 0-0 with Wigan.

But the player who your fan shouted at wasn't a manc, he's from Norwich. Pretty obvious that the person who shouted that is either stupid enough to think someone from Norwich is a manc, or just said that to avoid being charged for racial abuse.

That's still racism though.

Let me get this straight, the guy who thinks the 21st of December is WAY before the 20th of December is calling someone else stupid?

Okay about 6 pages of this topic seems to be a debate over personal team allegiances between two members descending into personal attacks. If you want to have this argument then that's fine but do it through PM as your currently just swamping a topic with a personal argument.

Any more and the topic will get locked.

Moving swiftly on...
