Not really sure it's viable for people to rank players that played decades before they were born. Unless you've watched literally seasons of these players playing, there is no way you can deduce a fair opinion on them - and much less compare them with other players.

I'm comparing them based on achievements, reputation, trophies, style of play and what I have seen of them. Only 1 of those players played in my lifetime, the rest are all based on the same thing, so yes it is viable to rank them.

That's not a fair basis upon which to rank players though. Leaving aside the fact that you are always going to be biased against including modern day players simply because they still play, you can't call one player better than another because they have more personal honours.

I said you'd be biased against the ones you've seen, as in you'd be less likely to include them. In the same way, say, as many people relegate Nemesis far down their coaster rankings when they've travelled abroad almost as though to show that they're not biased (when it should remain close to the top).

Blaze said:You base it on achievements, but Eusebio's tally of way over 400 goals for Benfica is somehow not good enough?
Erm...
Adam said:Not quite sure about the ordering on some of them, but this is my top 10.
Pele
Eusebio
Ferenc Puskas
George Best
Johan Cruyff
Alfredo Di Stefano
Lev Yashin
Paolo Maldini
Garrincha
Franz Beckenbauer

That's why I don't really like comparing players from different eras. It's like the Pele v Messi debate. If Pele was around now, he'd have different technology which would improve his game (lighter boots and footballs). Similarly, if Messi was around when Pele was in his prime, he's have heavier footballs and boots and the pitch conditions wouldn't be as good. You can't truly compare them.

Incredible scenes from Eusebio's funeral. RIP.
Theo Walcott has also been ruled out of Brazil, he must be gutted. However, this now gives Arsenal fans their injury excuses for if they fail to win a trophy again this season, rather than pointing the finger at the lack of depth. Giroud, Walcott and Lord Bendtner all out, although I believe Giroud will be back soon.

Slightly baffled at the rumours that Paul Lambert is trying to buy Hoolahan off us...
He didn't want to play him when he was Norwich manager, why would he want him now he's Villa manager? Mind games and all that BS I suppose...

Also, LOL AT MANCHESTER UNITED
