Hotels General Discussion

Opening day is an event for sure, but you’d be better comparing a like for like event if you want a true representation .
The price listed for the Orlando hotel is also without taxes and fees. It's important to note, when comparing US and UK prices, that they calculate sales tax at the point of purchase and not in the advertised listing price.

Was always my biggest annoyance on American trips. You'd get your money out for your purchase only to suddenly have to go digging for more because they can't be bothered to have prices inclusive of tax.

As mentioned though, Orlando isn't exactly lacking in hotels. The park ones have to be somewhat competitive (unless Disney, because they'll charge whatever and still get people in).

It's a little more complex than that. Each state in the US sets its own rules and rates for sales tax. As a result, most companies opt to state the retail price without taxes, so that the consumer can compare the base price of a product nationally.

An iPhone 16 costs $899 in the US. Depending on the state you could end up paying as much as $940, or as little as the base price of $899.

I agree it seems a little odd for fixed assets, like a hotel room, where you can't buy the literal same product/experience elsewhere, but there is some logic behind it.

They were grotty wooden sheds from day one.

They used to have a big tent with a self playing piano in it as well I recall? Now replaced with a gravely patch of nothing. How did they manage to downgrade an experience that was already poor to begin with so quickly? They only opened a few years ago and have already succumb to having features removed and being left in a state of disrepair.

Just saw on Facebook posts from someone originally booked into splash being called and told splash is closing for the winter and being moved to ATH. Looks like uptake for staying over at Xmas isn’t s as good as hoped.

Edit ; have discovered it’s next week they are closing it but no indication yet it’s all winter.

‘The winter’ is a long time period.

Splash still looks to be available for booking across the Christmas event period.

The “resort” side of Towers is so bad. Stayed once this year but used resort facilities on my three visits.

Aramark are a mess. I was given a glass of wine in a pint glass as they had no wine glasses in flambo’s…the food was just atrocious.

Anyway, the waterpark needs investment, the closure of the spa is a real shame as that was always a hidden gem and the golf course is outdated.

Let’s not get started on the grottiness of the hotels. The only nice thing was the polite staff.

There is no desire to stay on resort again until serious changes are made.
