Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015

Like i say, no business would want to write off an £18m+ investment. The compensation paid will be covered by insurance.

All they will want is to ensure nothing like this ever happens again and that it reopens with as little fuss as possible. With new procedures this point to a mid week opening this season. I would also say pre scarefest.
 
My opinions over this:
  • It WILL reopen. No doubt.
  • It will probably open this season (I'm GUESSING merlin want to do this, weather the prohibition notice is lifted/technical Issues or not will determine whether this happens or not)
  • There will be no retheme WHEN it reopens, it will be as if nothing happened in terms of the actual ride.

If you are sat in their seats... Leah was sat the middle right and Vicky middle left.

in her interview on this morning, Vicky said that she thought the bumper in the front car caused the center to concave. I know she isn't a structural engineer and neither am i, but is this a possibility? I haven't really thought about it
 
Reading that news article, something really stands out:

He visited them to talk about their findings. Sounds like he is firstly telling them the cause of the accident, secondly telling them what has been done about it and thirdly prepping them for the news that the ride is back open soon. They probably asked why so soon after the accident and hes probably given the honest answer that they have to as they are losing so much money from it being shut.

Fair play to the guy for going to tell them up front rather than them reading or seeing it on the news. It is definately opening very soon... I would now say in time for Scarefest.
 
My thoughts exactly Gary.
The problem now though is the tabloids have got hold of the story & have portrayed Nick Varney & AT as money grabbing monsters that aren't interested & only want to reopen it to make more money. Which is possibly true, however I might add... Isn't that the pointo_O
Also not forgetting that in actual fact they have stood there from day one taking full responsibility & making it overly clear that money is no object for their rehabilitation.

At the moment AT can't do right for doing wrong, I think the way they've gone about this is the right way.

Confirmation of what we have suspected all along?
 
I think the buffers hitting together have pulled the front middle of the car inward at a v angle which is why the middle of the car seems to have caused the worse injuries. I appreciate the victims opinion but if it was me I wouldn't want the company to suffer once the ride was proven safe and I'm aware it is yet to be proven safe but with all the upgrades the HSE must be on their way to lifting anything that is still in place? Oh I don't know it's too early for compassion and logic.
