Lightwater Valley

I know it's from Ride Rater however they're reporting that Mellors have acquired Lightwater Valley. I can imagine other sources will also confirm this soon if correct.

I wonder if we will start seeing a change in line up for next season?

It sounds very exciting hopefully turns out to be true, it sounds like it's going to be a great fit of owners for the park and hopefully they're going the right direction and new direction helps deliver new ride s and attractions for the park.

Yes this is more like it. At least we know the new owners won’t be asset stripping it anymore (is there much left). Would be nice to see a return of the runaway train to somewhere like here for a couple of seasons

Be interesting to see if they bring back any of the rides they were previously shipped off to places like the Middle East which they still own to populate the park with some new for 2026 attractions.
I'm half imagining it'll be quite a few (both family and thrill) flats from the fair circuit, dodgems, waltzer, a spinning wild mouse and a Reverchon flume and/or rapids initially.

I'd also imagine some of the older rides will end up being removed (possibly gradually), some of the Modern Products children's rides comes to mind where some of those may be coming to the end of their service life.

It'll be interesting which rides come in for 2026. I'd also be ironic if the rapids that's at Fantasy Island came back to the same spot as it used to be in.

I can see multiple new family/thrill rides next season if I’m being honest. The rapids would be a good move again as it was always popular when at LWV. I hope they take out the likes of Spin Bug etc as it looks out of place on Eagles Claws old site.

Speaking of Eagle's Claw, it could be a good ride to bring back in the unlikely scenario, the park have it stored.

It depends on if the park have sold or scrapped it.

They definitely built up a very good collection of rides for their Saudi events. Not sure if they are all still out there, or if some are back in their Nottingham yard?

If done right, the place is a licence to print money, certainly if the village is built. I said elsewhere and I'll say here that losing the ultimate might have been a blessing, as Blackpool have found the upkeep of legacy rides past their best is something of a millstone, no matter how iconic.

This gives them the chance to start again, although I'm not sure long term whether they will offload fantasy island in the process.

Why would they unload Fantasy Island?

They wouldn’t have bought and kept Fantasy Island if it wasn’t making good money. The original ride purchases under the original owner never made sense but he was super rich so they didn’t need to. I’m sure these days it has a reasonably good margin.

Fantasy Island does quite well under mellors certainly better than the old owners. Odyssey runs a lot more frequently now compared to how it used to. Also really like what Mellors did with the Pyramid. Although Ingoldmells is not Skegness tourists who go Skegness are likely to go Ingoldmells to its a UK Holiday Destination

I am hoping Mellors can bring fresh ideas to Lightwater Valley I want Lightwater Valley to do well as with any park but also bring the competition it used to provide Flamingo Land as well.
