Liseberg: General Discussion

Great report Danny! Makes me very excited for my first ever trip to Liseberg this weekend  Looking forward to some late night rides on Helix, Balder and Valkyria.

Am I right in thinking that you can't buy admission tickets on the Liseberg website? It has all of the prices on there but I can't seem to see any option to buy/book. Cheers!

You can indeed book online, I'd also advise you to do this as this will give you three free fast tracks for each of your visits!

Thanks for the reply Danny. I must be missing something on their website then, have been looking everywhere for the booking option :D Am sure I will get there in the end!

There is a tab at the top of the page that says "book", click on that then click on "ride passes and tickets".

Cheers skyscraper, that was the first thing I did but I got a message saying I was unable to shop in English, but would be able to do so soon. Anyways, I managed to book tickets for Saturday by navigating my way through the Swedish site (cheers Google translate). I think (hope) I have done it all right :D I appear to have had the 3 fast passes e-mailed. Anyone know if I need to print these off or do anything else with them? Thanks!

The website should tell you the expected rides that will be open during the respective season on the attractions page...

Same time though it's the usual weather dependent issues... But looks like Helix and Lisebergbanan are definitely closed...

Oh yeah thanks, I was looking on the calendar not attractions.

Not worth it then if Helix is closed, Phantasialand again it is.

Has anyone been to Liseberg in December?

The park is open but are all the coasters running?
I visited the Liseberg a few years ago just before Christmas and nothing major was open. I had a pleasant time, but I was in Gothenburg to visit friends so hadn't gone there especially to visit the park.

I believe this year both balder and Valkyria are planned to be open for Liseberg Christmas season

Don't think this has been posted, but I really like Valkyria's soundtrack:

Dare I say it's better than Helix?

Given that Helix's soundtrack is now toned down massively in the station and interrupted by four separate safety announcements..... [/totallynotbitter]

Safety of course is critical to a park’s operations, however there are elements of Helix’s experience which have been really effected by what appears to be almost an overkill reaction to safety.

Logically, these Mack coasters are either unsafe when run without seatbelts (eg Blue Fire) or the seatbelts are overkill. I cannot imagine option 1 being the case at all.

If it’s a cultural thing, surely the parks should take some responsibility in educating the public rather than cow-towing to Sun-like sensationalism.

I'm looking at doing a trip to Liseberg next summer. If I wanted to visit the park for 3 days in a row, what would be the cheapest way to do this (3 day ticket/annual pass?) and about how much do you think it would cost?

Thanks in advance :)

To be brutally honest, there is no cheap way of doing Liseberg; unless of course you have a review site / Youtube channel and ask politely (to which you'll be granted free admission, unlimited foot massages and the chance to sip cocktails under Balder with Andreas whilst you vandalise the supports with sharpies).

The 3 day ticket works out cheaper than the annual pass. The prices for next year are yet to be confirmed but a day ticket is £40ish. Sweden on the whole isn't cheap either as displayed by the food and drink prices. Accommodation prices can vary; Hotell Heden or Gothia Towers are certainly worthwhile considerations if you're happy to pay the premiums, but there's also an extensive plethora of other accommodation nearby on the lower end of the spectrum. The positive is that there are plenty of hotels all within an easy 20 minute walk of the park, whilst there's also the tram stop right outside if you find something much cheaper further out of the city.

It is unquestionably a pleasant park to visit in the summer, however your bank account may beg to differ! :)

Thank you, very helpful indeed :)
