Liseberg: General Discussion

I've not been back since Loke and Valkyria were installed. Next year is definitely looking likely. Get the new dark ride too so it will be 3 new major rides.

Liseberg is absolutely amazing.

Loki is no 1 flat by a mile for me both great positive and negitve g and a lot of airtime. Gets up to full height very quickly too so lots of full force swings.

Jukebox realy surprised me- it looks like a kids flat but has great forces.

^ I got a tag notification for this, for some reason. I was last at Liseberg in October last year.

Agreed about Jukebox and Loke though.

Sorry bout that John, hadn't had coffee this am yet so brain not fully engaged.

Thought F&B options in the park were exclent. Had the best German bratverst I have had outside of Bavaria.

Will write up a full review soon on the trip report section.

That second launch on helix into the airtime hil has to be one of the best moments on any ride I have been on. So much ejector airtime

Just booked flights to Gothenburg, as I still haven't been on Helix somehow.

Has anyone done Halloween there before? Are the mazes worth doing, or would they just get in the way of valuable night rides? How busy does it get?

Any other general tips much appreciated.

If you're there for multiple nights then absolutely do the mazes. Given it was their first Halloween when we visited last year, we were very impressed by the quality of them, particularly their build up of atmosphere. Hotel Gasten, their year round scare maze, doesn't really change so if you are able to do it earlier in the day, do so.

It wasn't particularly busy when we went last October; the longest queue was perhaps 30 minutes or so for Valkyria.

Don't underestimate the flat rides, particularly Jukebox. It's an absolute riot and I'll be surprise if you aren't seeking multiple re-rides when you visit. Loke is also tremendous.

Don't even bother coming back until you've ridden Helix front row at night either.

Get yourself out to Kolmården to ride wildfire whist your in Sweeden! :p Wildfire is so far ahead of anything else I have ridden at the moment.

Back to lisiberg:

Valkyria is, I would say, an even better night ride than helix just for the insane view you get over gothenburg on the front and the very pretty lighting on the pit. Spectacular. Got to appreciate it for an hour on an ERT when I was out there.

Helix is a far better ride overall though!

Lisiberg has, in my opinion, an almost perfect mix of coasters and flats. LOKI was standout but was also blown away by jukebox - it looks a lot less intense than it is so don't just dismiss it as a flat for kiddos

Last year (2018) was their second year of doing a Halloween event; seems to have set a trend over Sweden as the other parks joined in (Grona Lund did a maze on a boat, much like Saw Alive but with actual quality to it from the pics)...

The mazes were all very good, I only did Zombie (Because I don't like them but was semi-forced through to test out the "wheelchair friendly" nature of it, which is was until a point), which was stuffed to the brim with actors, and with only small groups going in on that and the one by Helix (Groups of 1, or 2) it certainly was a thing...

The two scare zones as well were very good, if cliche... Again tonnes of actors milling around, but the Circus area was fantastic, random shows and everyone had an unique aspect of their character, I enjoyed my time being a coward purely by crowd watching in that harbour area...

Don't think it was fairly busy but we didn't queue for anything because disabled... 30-45 minutes I think was probably the average for creds and mazes, they seemed pretty quick in chucking people through them...

I went for the Halloween event last year and had an incredible weekend. The park exceeded my already high expectations. The atmosphere was fantastic (even more so when dark) and the ride lineup is just as superb with Balder and Helix marching their way straight into my top 5 coasters. Loke really is leagues ahead of any other flat ride I’ve ever been on.

Queues on the Saturday were steady but operations were excellent and it’s well worth booking tickets to the park online through the Liseberg website as you get 3 free fast passes. The Sunday was much quieter with most rides practically walk on.We also stayed at Gothia Towers which is right opposite the park and was therefore very convenient indeed.

Having never really experienced any scare mazes other than Pasaje del Terror,I was blown away by the ones on offer here..they were all amazing and the level of theming on display was top notch with my stay at Hotel Gaston being the overall highlight.

I’m sure you will have a quality time, look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Perfect thanks chaps.

We've got all day Saturday til close, and Sunday until 6ish. Might be better to do just a couple of the scare mazes considering we've only got the Saturday evening for night rides. It's the first weekend of the Halloween event so hopefully it won't be too busy.

Slammer was my favourite ride in the UK over any coaster, so I'm very much looking forward to the flats at Liseberg.

I'm expecting big things from Helix tbh. As good as RMC's are you can't beat the freedom of the Mack Mega restraints.

@Doublethink thanks for the suggestion, Wildfire looks class, but it's a bit of a trek just for one coaster. I've always had my eye on it, but with the likes of Untamed and Zadra recently opening it could be a while til I make the trip to Kolmarden.

Riding zadra in a couple of weeks and hope to get untamed in by the end of the year too! Kolmården is a great park and if you enjoy either seaworld or Disney animal kingdom it will be right your alley but agreed that there are very few other rides there for enthusiasts.

Enjoy lisiberg its a fantastic park! Don't forget to do the classics like the arrow long flume and lisiberg bannan as well as there is some great heratage hardware out there

Do stop for a drink in the bar under Hotel Gasten's exit as well if you get a chance. I shan't spoil anything but it really is a must, particularly if you get a booth style seat....

Hopefully they add another thrill coaster in the not too distant future and I'm 100% there.

Lisebergbanen looks right up my street. This trip is well overdue but stupid Phantasialand/Taron keeps drawing me back there instead.

Cheers will do, it will likely be *a* drink knowing Scandinavian beer prices.

Would thoroughly recomend spot on hotel and hostel for accommodation. Litraly 2 min walk from the rear gate and silly cheap prices--about £45 a night for a 2 person room or £18 for dorms.

The food on park is genraly great. Max burger is 10x better than any fast food burger joint back home. Had a delicious bratwurst from the gourmet bratwurst place- haven't have such a good one since last time I was in Germany.

I had a soft spot for aeropspin - if you can get it spinning it just keeps going until the ride stop. My tips are to throw your body weight in the direction of lean and nice slow movements on the wing. Could get 30 odd spins in a row by the end of my 2 days

I’m visiting next Sunday. Hoping the fact Sweden and playing Norway in the football that the park will be quiet.
