I could say my motivation is “greater than ever” to win the lottery, but it doesn’t mean there’s any more chance of it happening.

Let me explain how local journalism works: reporters will be assigned stories and are expected by their editors to follow them up every so often. By chance, this Kent Online reporter will have called their contact on The London Resort team and been told that PY Gerbeau had Covid-19 - a more exciting headline, arguably, than “theme park plans still haven’t moved on”. When the people in that article were asked for a quote, it was inevitable they’d talk about being more “determined than ever” and other clichés - otherwise whatever slim prospect they had of investment would evaporate completely.

Just to put this in context, for anyone who hasn’t followed this story closely, we’re not talking about a Premier League club here - rather the National League side Ebbsfleet United.
 
Whenever the London Entertainment Resort appears in the news I have multiple people wanting to talk about it outside of this community. But I'm getting a sence of deja vu, as it always seems to be the same people who've forgotten they've heard of it before. I'm frankly amazed at how this project keeps managing to seem new even when nothing has changed for years now. Not helped by the press calling it "the UKs Disneyland" or "London's answer to Universal Studios" which has given people the false impression that these company's are working on it.
I think if most people realised how long this has been going on for it would have been long dead by now.

I am hoping to open a park in Northampton in 2024. Hopefully it will have a B&M dive machine and a Mack Multi-Launch if we can afford it. I am aiming to spend a lot of money on this project (although I will need to get that money from people first).

I am aiming to use some IPs from the BBC and ITV in order to create a park to rival Disneyland Paris. I don't know maybe Doctor Who or Peaky Blinders or something, not 100% sure yet. Groundwork should start at some point in the next couple of years though.

By the way if anyone would like to invest in the project please DM me. I have never been more motivated to get this project completed.

Back in the day, there was a lad making posts about American Adventure that looked exactly like this. The difference was, his were entirely sincere.

Of course, if he hadn't taken the time to dream so big, perhaps American Adventure wouldn't be around for us to enjoy today.

I remember seeing that on Rideas. Was that something to do with a 'Warrior Pig Group'.

To be fair though, when you hear stories with people who set up theme parks, a lot of them start with ‘people told us we couldn’t do it’. I remember a young guy and his Dad setting up a theme park. They wanted a concession to run the restaurants, but all the restaurant groups declined, because they said the theme park was doomed to fail. Europa Park has been running its own restaurants ever since.

I don’t think this stands much chance of succeeding. The whole UK theme park industry has reached a point where it’s really difficult to make money. Land prices are so high around London and I don’t think Brexit will help us as an international destination, except that the pound might well fall, making holidays here cheaper for other countries. It looks like an IP heavy park, but Disney and Universals have already mopped up a lot of the top global IPs, and there isn’t a creative mothership like Disney Imagineering or Universal Creative. In fact, I could go on and on about the challenges, most of which have already been mentioned in this thread.

I do think there are some opportunities. London hasn’t really got a water park, probably because land prices are so high and it’s difficult to make a water park work in the UK. The safety culture here makes a water park very labour intensive and gives them low capacities. But I think there is some kind of opportunity for London to have a major water park. I think the demand would be there. There are some big British IPs like Doctor Who and James Bond that could create a successful attraction, although I assume there’s a reason why James Bond isn’t already being used somewhere, and Doctor Who might not have enough international appeal. With a completely different vision for a smaller less ambitious project, I think there’s something there. I do think London’s ripe for a high-end park that offers a higher quality park without the BOGOFFs and discounting. But this particular proposal has too many flaws.
 
Scotland has more of a chance of getting a small to medium sized park soon really, a large enough population close enough together mostly that one around Whitburn would work quite well, or buy out M&D's land. Sticking another park near London is just asking for difficulties with 3 big parks already local and several around an hour away.

Also I could see another bonus of a park away from London is that @Islander probably would be there less, a win for all involved.

Is it a true Paramount Park, or is it like the London resort where just a name is licensed?

I've lost track as to whether the London resort still has the Paramount license anyway.
 
They had the Paramount license initially before losing it in 2017, but then gained it again a little down the line!
 
Well, it’s surely a step towards it happening, if nothing else? It does certainly make the project’s status seem more promising!
