That mural looks brilliant. Really sets the tone for the day, what a shame they got rid. Probably too much effort for them to keep it looking nice.
What are you saying? That you have a problem with a plain white wall covered with cheap 2d signs instead? Wash you mouth out, 2024 is the best season ever don't you know.Very strange decision to paint over that mural too. Short sighted decision.
Just checked and the capacity is 4100pph (scource: https://towersstreet.com/theme-park/ride/monorail/#factfile)I think theoretical throughput is about 3000 per hour on the monorail, so running at half capacity sounds about right...though you rarely if ever get a true full train!
Couldn't agree more something it desperately needs, can't happen until closed season being realistic but it would definitely save staff during slow days and speed up opps during faster days a clear win win.Air gates. Just get them in already.
Why are they so reluctant to install them? I don’t understand. It’s a (comparatively) cheap improvement, will improve guest satisfaction and may even allow them to take a member of staff off the platforms during off peak times as well. Win-win for all concerned?
I just walked past the monorail enterance and it is backed up to thr turnstiles (the ones you enter th epark from) with an estimated 25 min wait there are a large amount of people with pushchairs opting to walk back to the car and the dispatches are arround 3-4 mins and this is quite a quiet day and about 30 mins after all the rides closedJust checked and the capacity is 4100pph (scource: https://towersstreet.com/theme-park/ride/monorail/#factfile)
so less than half capacity, on a day like today where the queues are low (between 20-40 mins) if is fine, but on the more busy days when even like 30 mins after closing the monorail queue is still at like 30-40 mins it isnt that good, and from what I have seen this feels close to the max the current system can support (maybe up to 2000pph) so that double capacity could help drastically in reducing the queue after closing

I’ve always assumed that they haven’t bothered installing air gates as they keep putting off the decision of what will happen with the monorail in the medium/long term.
It likely needs lots of money spending on it and the airgates will just be one part of that investment.
Seems they are addressing the Skyride, the monorail could finally get a decision after that.
I know this isn’t “news, but I’ve never seen the monorail in such a poor state and so badly run as it was today. Arriving after 12, there were only two trains in operation. They sat at the station after loading for a good five minutes without moving. The queue was halfway down the ramp.
Both the outside and inside of the trains are disgracefully filthy. It takes nothing for someone to wipe them down, but it’s just not being done. There is green mildew everywhere. Quite how management view this as an acceptable introduction to the day is bewildering.
VR monorail?Curiously SeaWorld in Australia has just closed their VR monorail, wonder if Merlin can plunder it for parts.
