Nemesis: Sub-Terra Discussion (**contains spoilers**)

Sub Terra 2 is amazing. See TR for details. I'll probably explain here at some point, but for now, I'll just say that it's now a totally different ride, it's unreal. It's (insert intensifying expletive) incredible. Wow. Wow! WOW!!!

Just so no one thinks this topic has disappeared, I'm simply posting to let you know the glue has been removed from the blackboard - I've 'de'stickied this thread, as discussion seems to have died down considerably (last post 02/09 until today).

Any questions/problems, please drop me a PM :).

There does seem to be a massive increase in the number of people giving the ride the thumbs-up on Facebook recently. Also on my last visit the guest reaction seemed to be spot-on, though it is completely dependent on how well the scare-actors are working the space.

I do worry they wont keep the operating budget up for future season though and we will lose some of the kick.

Yeah, really the main reason for the public's change of opinion of the ride is the actors, if the budget for them is cut, so will the number of positive reviews.

Yep, definitely. I rode it for the first time a few weeks ago, and if there were no actors, it would've been sh*t.

The only part i dont get is the last part, why the hell would the actors be trying to scare you when they're trying to evacuate the building?!! I was so scared, my sisters and i forgot our bags at bag drop off and had to come back after realising it. Great ride though! :)

I kinda see it has they got attacked and are contaminated too and this contamination is sending them a bit crazy. Kinda fits in with the bloody splatters and other bits of body paint they have on them.

Noticed an improvement on Sub-Terra today that I'm sure wasn't there a couple of weeks ago. Basically, the TV screens in the preshow lifts now show a clear diagram of where each designated group should sit in the ride chamber. There is also a (rather illfitting) voiceover narrating what can be seen on screen. A very good idea IMO, considering many people have no idea what they're doing when the exit the lifts!

Unless its been changed to make it even clearer, Sub Terra has had that since my first ride shortly sfter launch (or at least the update). Nobody listens to it, but its quite clear on the screen what you have to do and where to go.

I surely can't have been that unobservant?! I've ridden it at least 7-8 times!

On previous rides I've never noticed any order to where people sit either as I did today. People generally just went in whatever direction took their fancy, whereas today they went straight to the designated number. I'm sure they've made it clearer.

It's always had the guy saying something along the lines of "Please observe the screens for your position in the observation chamber." The screens then display a red dotted line, with the two drop towers labelled with your groups number, and indicates where you should sit.

However I agree, people don't listen to it, and go wherever they fancy, I've had an issue before where I've ridden with a friend, but due to a SINGLE RIDER choosing to sit on the wrong tower for their designated group, I was split from my friend. Needless to say, I wasn't happy, and was shouted at rather rudely by the host, who demanded I took my seat. I refused out of principle, as I had waited 50 minutes to ride, whereas I could have stood in the single rider queue which had a few people in.

The map/instructions on the lift screens has remained (as far as I can tell) unchanged from the original ride at launch.

Nobody pays a blind bit of notice to it though.

I stand corrected then. Can't believe I never noticed it though!
You must have been looking at the floor every time you've ridden!

Probably too focused on deciding whether the outer edge lift door strip lighting effect actually looks realistic or not.

I conclude not. ;)

To be fair, the problem is that people aren't forced into the two halves of the lift properly - as the first group enters and generally pins themselves to the wall while the second group then fills in the middle. So by the time you exit the lift, the groups have merged.

I agree, although you would have thought that your average guest would have sufficient intelligence to remember the group number given to them not 2 minutes before! :p

I'll be honest with you in that I dont bother to sit in the allocated seat group number thingie, by the time you get out of the lift and its dark you just tend to sit wherever. The only way this would work properly is if they asked each group to exit the lift separately and be seated before allowing the other group in, though this would obviously cause a longer queue.

The animation on the screen has been the same since v1, the voiceover changed during the "upgrade" in May last year.

No work has been made to improve the ride since then, however Entertainments have connected up some lights and audio a month or so ago, which was meant to arrive for May last year (but didn't turn them on as they didn't feel it was necessary).

One thing that would have worked well in the pit would have been a shadow of a monster scuttling around the back behind the riders, as the pit is just too "static" for my liking

I think the chamber is fine as it is. Considering it's the first dark ride ventured into by Merlin they did pretty well (when you look at the current version that is). It's meant to be quite a rushed section anyway so I doubt many people actually notice the details in there.

People exiting the lifts... I don't bother following the video. It's usually a free-for-all when you get out of there so you just take whatever seat you can.
