Nemesis: Sub-Terra

Well from the looks from the nemesis thread, they do seem to be continuing the story after the announcement, so we may be in for a chance for an announcement soon!
I wouldn't be surprised if they continue to drip-feed teasers throughout the closed season, then announce it just before the start of the new season.

I just remembered a great story from my dad about Sub-terror. In the preshow video the rock that is shown is sandstone. However later in the ride when it drops down into the cave my dad suddenly shouted 'THIS IS LIMESTONE, NOT SANDSTONE!!!!' I really hope they rectify this oversight if it reopens in 2023! :tearsofjoy:

Think it’s pretty obvious now something is going to be happening in Sub Terra.

The narrative change of a new head of Phalnax who’s supposedly corrupt and has weird ideas wouldn’t have been created just for the closure of Nemesis. Same with the all the investment in these new suits and stuff from last night, all part of the marketing for what is next rather than just closure

I'm glad they didn't announce anything relating to N-ST yesterday. That day belonged to Nemmy and nothing else.

I'm sure we will get some kind of announcement and promo in late winter / Early spring.

I think we could see a new name for this ride as that building has been in lockdown since 2015 and they monsters have growth and it will be linked to a new Nemesis story line for 2024.
Particularly given last night’s videos, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it wasn’t called Nemesis Sub-Terra.

The videos released by the park last night mentioned “a new head of the Phalanx” and “corruption within the company”, which some perceived as building towards a new storyline for what was Sub-Terra… that doesn’t sound like the old Sub-Terra, if I’m remembering second hand accounts of it correctly.

I think that whatever opens in that space next year (if anything… I’m strongly leaning towards there being something, but I could be wrong) will likely be at least somewhat different to the Nemesis Sub-Terra that operated between 2012 and 2015. The old ride will have been shut for 8 years by 2023, and I’d wager that few remember the old ride that well by virtue of it being a somewhat poorly received and very short-lived peripheral attraction, so it’s not like they need to reopen it exactly as was.

Also, given the poor reviews and supposed logistical difficulties with Nemesis Sub-Terra in its 2012-2015 form, why wouldn’t they make some changes to it given the opportunity?

I've mentioned this I'm the Nemesis thread but the idea of corruption within Phalanx could mean a return of the Nemesis worshippers from the early days of the ride who have hijacked Phalanx and Sub Terra could have its plot starting about the same to see thr egg but then comes the twist when you are seated in which you find out its all a trap and you will be dropped into the pit in which you will be human sacrifices for Nemesis and you can have all the interaction there.

So we are going to have an underground version of Wicker Mans story? But actually I can see that being the story.

Honestly I didn't think of that and I can't believe I forgot about it, then again knowing Merlin liking to copy and paste things for themes for all their attractions, it actually seems quite a plausible thing to do by replacing the names Wicker Man into Nemesis and that's yer lot.

I honestly can't think what else they'd do if this is a new story for the attraction as this honestly just seems the most likely and easiest plot to me and would actually fit in with the original Nemesis theme of human sacrifices instead of Phalanx which could be a soft way of merging the two themes.

I believe that it may become a year round scare maze without the drop ride. My evidence for this is at Scarefest ,I think this may have been in 2021, they did a questionnaire asking people their satisfactions on the mazes, general theming around the park and what they would want to see implemented around the park. One of the options to be implemented was a permanent scare maze. The park may have actually listened to the public!

Scaremaze for all year round is highly unlikely, however it will be interesting on what the new plot might be for the ride. Might place a cheeky bet on my idea of the Wicker Man style human sacrifice plot being used! :p

I always kind of liked the main ride section of N-ST. There wasn't anything massive I'd change about that bit. It did what it was meant to do.

The pre-show and post show need the most work. Both felt a bit bizarre.

I'd like them to keep Phalanx only around NST, leave Nemesis alone.

I'd love it if they reworked NSTs storyline to be based on the events inside Phalanx and what's causing Nemesis to go bizarre. Maybe a test goes wrong.
