Whilst I don't believe this is true, if it is, then this is really pathetic from Merlin.

What next, are they going to sue Bethesda for them calling the 4th Elder Scrolls game Oblivion? It's funny because the most famous coaster named Raptor is the one at Cedar Point, which opened in 1994, 17 years before Gardaland's version.

Something like this would be great for a Merlin park like Chessington or even at Alton.

The whole project looks fantastic, I'm sure it will be a big success for Paultons.
 
Paultons have been brilliant since the turn of the decade, Peppa Pig was the start point of their current success and it has help them so much. Magma was where they started to "grow the beard" when it comes to being serious themed park and Critter Creek and Lost Kingdom is where they really started playing serious. This is an incredible investment. Two quality kids coasters from Vekoma themed so beautifully makes watching this little park compete with the big boys so exciting. Can't wait to visit in June! :D
 
I've got to say that looks excellent and its not even completed. I don't think Merlin could pull a land off like that these days.

Well, they probably could in three stages across five years.

First of all, those fences would be at least 3 times the height if this was a Merlin park...

But that's for another topic. :p
 
I've been following the construction of Lost Kingdom, and I am really impressed with what they've done so far! The rockwork and planting is especially amazing, subtle things likes the 3D signage and the weathervane on the roof show the dedication to the theming quality which I think is great.

Can't wait to see this in person, it looks like they have put a lot of effort into it. Great to see a small UK park creating a whole non-IP based family area like this, I hope it has the impact they desire.

Dinosaur theme park world, Lost Kingdom, to open at Paultons Park

After months of anticipation, Paultons Park’s new £9m attraction Lost Kingdom is to open its gates on May 17, transporting families back millions of years to when dinosaurs roamed the world.

The attraction is set within four acres of Jurassic landscape, inspired by the era of fierce velociraptors, flying pterodactyls, giant triceratops and the mighty tyrannosaurus rex.

Ideal for adventurous families, the new theme park land will launch a whole host of dinosaur attractions, including two world-class family rollercoasters: Flight of the Pterosaur and Velociraptor. It will be the first time since 1992 that a UK theme park has launched two new rollercoasters in the same year.

Lost Kingdom will also introduce Jurassic-themed family rides Boulder-Dash, Temple Heights and Dino-Chase; a dinosaur adventure play park, Little Explorers, and The Dinosaur Tour Co – a 4x4 Jurassic Jeep expedition, where children and parents will discover dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes along with a few surprises along the way!

Alive, Dinosaur Encounter will be a truly unique attraction where families will come face to face with the Park’s very own, but fortunately quite friendly, captive T-Rex.

Guest can also enjoy two new places to eat at the park, Base Camp and The Nest, and an exciting themed shop, Outpost 12.

Richard Mancey, managing director of Paultons Park, said: “Lost Kingdom is going to be very special. It is a truly unique experience where families can be thrown back millions of years to see, hear and feel a prehistoric world.

“Children and adults of all ages are fascinated by dinosaurs and I think the amazing world we’ve created here at Paultons Park and the rides within it will thrill both children and adults alike.”

Think Paultons are on to a winner with these rides. Will draw families away from Chessington, which hopefully could mean Merlin have to invest to keep people visiting.

Will be interesting to see if Paultons invest in some more trilling rides to interest families with older children.
 
I must say for a park that usually invests in bland un-themed attractions this new area looks brilliant. Huge investment and well executed. They just need a high thrill coaster/attraction to warrant the long journey for me.
 
I can't see Paylton's going for the thrill market any time soon, sadly. They've found a niche that they are good at, and no other park in the country can offer at the moment. Maybe in then years time...

This is all looking very good. If it's to the same standard as Magma, it should be great. I look forward to seeing it in person.

I think realistically Paultons will only go for the thrill market if they realise they can be the best park in the UK. Eventually they'll get really popular and go "you know what, maybe we can become the best park in the UK if we get some proper thrill rides!". They've definitely got the potential, transport is much better than say Towers for example and there's still some space for a couple more rides. They can do what Drayton have done already and advertise themselves as a family park with a couple of thrill rides (but in reverse :p) if they ever decide to go down that road.
