Paultons Park: General Discussion

No it’s the equivalent of the hotel stating “en suite bathroom” on every room even though they don’t have any rooms not ensure. Or “tea and coffee making facilities” on every room type even when all rooms come with that facility. Both of these are standard practice on hotel booking sites to show the facilities you receive whether you book a suite or a single room. Paultons are doing the same, they show day tickets as including parking and annual passes as including parking.
Would look more weird if day tickets listed parking included and annual passes didn’t.
The distinction here is between listing a facility and advertising a financial perk. Hotels list "en suite" because shared bathrooms still exist in the wider hospitality market; it clarifies the physical product.

If they wish to clarify the facility relative to the wider market, the accurate terminology is "Parking Included". Using the word "FREE" in bold letters psychologically anchors a phantom cost to create the illusion of a saving that does not exist at that specific location.

An Annual Pass benefits list is structurally designed to showcase the additional value over a standard Day Ticket to justify the upsell. If a Day Ticket holder parks for £0, and a Pass holder parks for £0, the perk has a marginal value of exactly zero. It is filler designed to make the list look longer than "Entry" and "Discount on T shirts".

Indeed, there’s now been over 3 pages worth of going round and round in circles over a tiny bit of marketing spiel. As per other topics we have had to jump in on, it has also gone way too specific, in depth and argumentative. I appreciate that “closed season’s gonna closed season” but there’s a point where it’s just a bit too much.

Please let’s get back to discussing the park itself and the exciting investments for 2026!

Thank you.

I'll kickstart a new line of discussion here....

What's everyone's thoughts on the food offering at Paultons, and where's your number 1 place to eat?

For me, personally it's the diner in tornado springs, with their tornado fries.

Also, what "viking food" could they introduce in the new Vikings restaurant?

Maybe "Longboat hot dog" or a "valgard vindaloo" 🤣

What are your thoughts?

Paultons is the only theme park I've been to in the UK that has given over any consideration to catering for special dietary requirements. We always eat at the diner in Tornado Springs because they take my gluten allergy seriously. I can put in my order in person at a dedicated counter with a full allergen matrix available and the food I order is prepared in a separate, contaminant free part of the kitchen. Importantly as well, preparing an allergy order doesn't take them three times as long as a normal order which is often the case elsewhere.

If I'm being honest, the food itself is good but not mind-blowing. The fries are pretty good and the burger meat is decent quality but I do find the gluten free burger bun a bit tough and dry for my liking, there are better ones out there. I don't always just want a burger and chips either.

I do really like the new Grand Central Cafe as previously the park lacked a decent coffee shop. Again it would be nice to have a bit more choice in terms of gluten free cakes etc and I did (politely) feed this back to them on my last visit.

So room for improvement, but streets ahead of most other UK parks. The Merlin/Aramark offering in comparison is just embarrassing.

I also found paultons is the only place I can reliably eat at the restaurants with coeliac- I prefer the kids gluten free hot dog over the burger but the bun on that isn't very nice either. Still, it tastes better than anything I've had at merlin parks when they sometimes say stuff is coeliac safe. Honestly my favourite thing on the menu is a milkshake, but it isn't always wise drinking a full one of those before going back on the rollercoasters XD

Route 83 diner is decent enough food for what it is, burgers, fries and hotdogs. I hope the new restaurant in Valguard has table service though. Normally I have no issue using touch screens as it can bypass queues but when we went to Paultons last year we had to wait a good ten minutes to queue for a touchscreen, then wait around the counter until the order arrived and then try to find a seat with our food, when it was pretty busy. Also be nice if they did some decent beers, bottles of IPA and the like.

Basically make it just like the flaming Feather in Toverland please!

I look forward to lunch at Paultons, I don't at many UK theme parks, although Thorpe gets a pass because KFC is my guilty pleasure even if it is filth. Merlin Chicken Co is vile at the other sites.

The food in the American Diner is really good, and the burrito's by the tractor are excellent, and neither leave you feeling ripped off. When we needed it the kids lunch boxes in PPW were OK, not the greatest, but a gourmet bargain up against the similar offer at Lego.

Quite liked the Gyros they have there at Paultons. I think overall for food Paultons is 3rd best in the UK behind Fantasy Island and Pleasure Beach Resort which have way more variety
The Beach selection?
The majority of food outlets are closed off peak, so the option is often pizza or burger (off).
In my limited experience, Thorpe takes the top spot for variety.

If they go themed, what would we think of as viking food?

Turkey leg, stews, big sausages, smoked meats?

Is there a market for porridge and gravlax?!

Fantasy Island has way more variety than any of them.

Feel with Paultons all of the good food stalls are on the right hand side of the main entrance the left hand side of the park there ain't w whole lot
That's true in general though, there's more to the park on the right than there is on the left. I don't think that has any bearing on the quality of the food.

Not been to Fantasy Island so can't comment.

I've found Blackpool to be disappointing for food though, I remember waiting interminably for a chicken wrap in Coasters that when arrived looked extremely underwhelming. I wasn't even eating it because I was forced to go without due to there being no suitable gluten free options. They couldn't do anything for me at Loki's either - which I couldn't understand, as chicken and chips is usually a pretty safe bet. We always just leave the park and go to Spoons now instead.

Fun little trailer for Raven including lots of nice drone shots of the construction:
