Re: Phantasialand
How the HELL do you manage to mess up a flume this badly? Only Intamin!
As for a "big secret" inside, what if it had a Th13teen style drop section? It's a long shot, I know, but it would explain why they went for Intamin, as well as why there have been so many delays.

If such an element does happen to exist now, (long shot I agree yes) It will be gone by the time it opens next year
It genuinely baffles me how badly wrong this has gone!

Re: Phantasialand
It was originally rumoured that River Quest would have a drop element in it (Around where the 3rd drop is), and it's also been suggested that this site would be for a family drop coaster, so who knows!
Personally, I doubt it very much, but you can't say it would be a completely unfounded idea. That pit is very deep, and we have just assumed another drop would be in it to make up for the height difference.

Re: Phantasialand
Well wether it's a good thing or not, the trims certainly seem to be working. The boats don't bang their way into the turntable anymore, so that's always a pro, and the size of the splashing seems to be pretty consistent now. You can see the difference below. It's quite a big one. I can't help but wonder if the time difference is going to impact throughput much, or if they might try and find a way to prevent it impacting too much. If you look at the time taken for a boat to leave the drop and go into the turntable it's quite a bit more now, and over time it all adds up:
Then

I have to say, having now seen the area in person the photos are quite deceptive. Whilst it all looks very beautiful and well designed, it's surprising how small the area feels to look at
Just looking on it from the outside the only bit which I think needs any real attention theming wise is the lift area that CA and Chiapas share. It's still looking like rather a dumping ground. Hopefully when they fill the main pool under it back up it'll look a little better.
I'll also say that the new Tacan burger restaurant above the ride station is lovely! It's only burgers, but they're pretty good value, and surprisingly large portions. Oh, and they don't taste too bad either! No Merlin Buns here

Re: Phantasialand
So the park is now in its annual Wintertraum event, which will run until 12th January 2014. RideOnBlog have some brilliant images from around the park, including some nice shots of Chiapas (From what I can gather the wooden screens on the bridge from Berlin have been taken down). They've also posted this video, which has some lovely shots from around the park, although there seems to be the odd generic B&Q decoration which spoils it a bit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZNuAUbCvAo#ws
However, as the park is now open until 8pm throughout winter it obviously gets dark much earlier. We finally get to see Chiapas all lit up in the dark!

Judging from the shots of it in the video above the lights which illuminate parts of the mountain appear to flicker slightly, presumably to look like flames. I have to say, it doesn't half look good!
Some more great photos of Chiapas in the dark (And light!) here. For the first time we get to see almost to the bottom of the final drop! It looks a lot higher than first anticipated.

Re: Phantasialand
Apologies for yet another update, but I felt that this one was really worth it! The photos below have been taken by one of the attraction's designers from what I can gather, and show details we've not yet seen from within the new area.
A familiar shot of the bridge from ground level
In the far right of this image you can see part of the final drop, with all that water pouring down it!
Not sure where this is, but I'm guessing part of the queueline or somewhere similar
This is part of the walkway at the top of the area, which will be accessed from the path around the back of Talocan, where the viewing holes are for it. This is looking at it from Black Mamba side, towards Talocan.
And again
And one more, looking into the new area
A shot from within the ride in the same sort of area
From ground level in front of the shops around the side of Arena de Fiesta
Looking up towards Black Mamba. You can se the drop again on the left
The sculpted name on the side of the camelback, next to the ride entrance
A View From A Bridge
And finally, a shot from the very bottom of the final drop, looking into the camelback. I'm loving the pool at the bottom, and from what little bits have been seen from the opposite direction, I get the impression it's going to be a real sight dropping into it on the ride
From looking at the artists Facebook page it looks like he's also doing some work for Europa amongst other parks, including Wodan, and the Enchanted Forest.

Oh my word!!!
No wonder people think Merlin is crap at themes for rides!!
Compare Dark Forest to this? And a quite small independent park if I am right?
That really does look spectacular, especially for what is essentially just a log flume!

Finally, Silver City is going at long last! I still find it daft that it's hung around for so long, especially considering that the park don't even recognise it as a themed area of its own any more.
One thing I hope they will do is keep the lovely style Guest Services. It was so cosy and welcoming. Going in, and sitting down on the sofas while someone comes over and sits with you to fill out forms for APs, etc. I'd be sad to see that style gone
I know there has also been rumour of removing the first warehouse from Colorado Adventure, and landscaping it, which would probably be possible if they were closing Silbermine, as the two are connected. I believe the warehouse was retrofitted following noise complaints, but now there's the lovely rock screen between CA and Chiapas I'd hope they at last sort it. It'd be a massive improvement for both Colorado, and Chiapas
