Plopsaland De Panne General Discussion

That Super Splash must feel like a really, really long float back to the station in winter.

I don’t really get the design of that ride. Near instant drop with no suspense , then as you say the very long float back. Was it a prototype?

The one at Efteling looks much better, think it has dark ride section then a few twists before the splash?

Hey supersplash has the

rather cool elevator that spins you 180 degrees round as you lift up towards the drop

But that float back to the station takes well too long, not like they even run a decent number of boats to make that worthwhile.

It only has 3 boats anyway. Not really sure why it takes so long to return too when the one at EP is far quicker.

Went middle of December last year on a Wednesday. Bought ticket on tripper.nl on the train on the way there after checking the weather, 8 degrees some rain morning/midday.

Had a blast - less than 500 people in the park I reckon (they didn’t even open the gift shop) so had zen rides on everything bar RtH. Every ride they could open was open, the water rides open later (and yes that float back was ridiculous!). RtH was request to get off so had about 50 rides on it (would have had more if not had to leave early)! Obviously also turns into night rides at end of the day.

Do Plopsaland have any plans for a new ride in 2025 or are they quite sporadic in their additions? Do they have much limitation in terms of land?

They seem to invest every few years. We had the indoor Bumba circus last year as new and that was quite big so I imagine we’ll have a few quiet years now, but you never know!

Seems the ownership group are adding quite a bit to Holiday Park, and some new bits to PlopsaCoo in the next few years.
Plopsaland felt quite 'complete' as a theme park can be when I visited in summer 2022, especially compared to PlopsaCoo and Holiday Park.

At a guess seeing how Holiday Park are already announcing coasters for 2025 and 2026 you'd think with the same owners (and RTH being announced well in advance) the next serious investment would probably be 2027 at the earliest.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some flats added in the coming years before a new coaster.

I think a Gyro Swing and/or a Drop Tower could be fantastic for Plopsaland to complement Ride to Happiness.

Something else I remembered, it was coincidentally Tomorrowland Festival whilst we were at Plopsa.

Having a rollercoaster in a family theme park sponsored by a dance festival is..... interesting?

Debating a last minute Xmas trip to Plopsaland if the weather is decent.

Has anyone stayed in the chalets or village onsite? There's no indication about the floorplan or number of rooms which would be a determining factor for us.

Edit: Seems the Village gives the information when you attempt to book, they have multiple rooms but the chalet doesn't indicate....

Just to update as i reached out to Plopsaland, the village (which is brand new) features cabins each with 3 or 4 bedrooms and kitchen facilities (in the style of Center Parcs). You also get unlimited entry for your stay to both Plopsaland and PlopsAqua plus free parking so much like the Efteling equivalent it works out great value for a group.

They did a 20% off discount for Black
Friday last year which we booked on 19th Nov last year so may be worth holding off booking until then. Not sure if it’ll include the village though.

When did Merlin take over Plopsaland?

Today wasn't great. Not helped by RtH and Anubis both suffering from the cold (who on earth builds a coaster requiring 6 degrees to operate on the northern French coastline at a park that does winter openings?) and being closed all day, unhelped by it testing too. The park was also RAMMED and very disorganised.

Guest Services had 2 actual working staff with plenty others popping in and out looking busy whilst not seemingly doing anything. Number of shut restaurants (walked past at least 3, 2 of them being indoor options) didn't help when searching for lunch, which was the main Merlin comparison there. Even then at the Pizza Hut by Heidi The Ride they had 2 staff members total. Which meant the short queue took FOREVER because one guy had to sort out food and the till.

Little one got on her first coaster (Roller Skater), but when we went to the Zierer Tivoli, the staff member expressed that to ride I (as wife's carer) would need to sit with her and let the kid sit with complete strangers? Even though we sat in separate rows on the cred not 5ft away? Methinks this staff member was young and too tied to the apparent rules to apply some common sense to the situation but if there's one thing that is incredibly frustrating to anyone (especially RAP) is inconsistency to the application.

Circus Bumba is hell on earth. Didn't bother doing the dark ride as a result.

Just a poor day really overall. Little one did seem to enjoy it but was a stark difference to 3 days at Efteling. Have to go back anyway for the missing cred but seemingly need to come with someone else AND when it's quiet.

That’s a shame to hear. I did vaguely look at visiting over Xmas but was seemingly rightly concerned that the park wasn’t particularly well equipped to operate fully in the winter months.

Guessing you didn’t go in PlopsAqua?

No as back in UK now. The waterpark doesn't particularly interest me either, and again the whole 2 year old.

Was only on a slight whim what we did today. If had realised earlier how busy it would've been then probably would've gone elsewhere. Even with the practicality of Plopsa for homeward bound.

That sounds a very disappointing day and reminds me of my first trip to Plopsaland in 2019 before RTH opened.

Spited by Anubis and Heidi, poor operations, rainy all day and one of the worst theme park meals ever, at the Piraten Grill. Was rather hungover after a heavy night drinking, not helped by dealing with a recent breakup at the time. Even the ferry back was massively delayed due to awful weather. The group I went with was one of the few positives.

Thankfully a more recent visit last year was substantially better. This park does feel like somewhere which can be a bit of a lucky dip in terms of what kind of experience you can have there.
