Potential New Universal UK Park

Large parts of Blackpool are very nice indeed.
It is only limited areas (like behind the prom) that are grotty.
I would happily own any of the properties surrounding Stanley Park, for example.
Likewise the beach down at Star Gate is top notch and clean...and a wonderful supplier of driftwood for work and fire.
Sorry, miles off topic.

I don't think any properties will be officially sold until the project is officially given the green light. If the rumours regarding NDAs are true it's likely that it's to keep any offers confidential until a decision is made.

It's fortunate they only have to deal with a handful of homeowners as the site is far enough away from other housing estates.

A lot can change and quickly with these sorts of things.....but right now it's looking more likely than not to go ahead in my opinion. I thought we'd have seen quite a lot of opposition to the proposal from the locals but it's mainly been positive so far.

The only shame is I will be well into my 40's by the time it does open. I just hope I still have the appetite for theme parks as I do now.

I'm the wrong end of my 40's and still very much have the appetite for Theme parks and are more than likely be in my 60's 😲 before this opens. But personally I can't wait.

I was worried about this recently but after seeing the recent video of the 88 year old lady going on all the rollercoasters (and re-rides) at Dollywood i'm less concerned.

My grandad is 71, and is possibly more excited to ride Nemesis next weekend than I am! It’ll be his first ever time on the ride, and only his second ever visit to Alton Towers after he loved his first last year! Age really is just a number with these things!

On the subject of the Universal park, I do agree that it’s all looking quite positive so far, with surprisingly little vocal opposition! However, I do wonder whether a more formal planning process that reveals some more precise details about the project may bring some more vocal opponents out of the woodwork, as it has done with so many past UK proposals.

The advantage of where they want to build is that it's already had planning permission granted for a business park and houses so the plot was going to be developed regardless. The biggest hurdle remains infrastructure and who pays for the improvements, Bedford council really can't afford to balls this up.

One could argue, however, that from a local perspective, business parks and housing estates are slightly more benign developments than a theme park resort attracting huge numbers of guests for multiple reasons.

A Universal resort would definitely present a different proposition that could ruffle a few feathers locally if some of the challenges aren’t handled appropriately.

If this goes ahead, do we really see Universal trying a 365 in the UK like they’re other parks?

I think it may shift the other parks into rethinking their opening times. Especially with the events universal puts on.

If they construct it mostly inside the other parks can’t compete with that.

They definitely are going to a 365 resort and there's no reason it can't work in this country even with the weather. It rains the same amount as in Paris and that works just fine. Plenty of indoor areas and it'll be fine

If Universal go ahead with this I’m kind of hoping they build a preview centre somewhere. If they are serious about the project I’d imagine they’ve already got some concepts they’d like to add or even models to showcase.

The rumour is that they want to get a small attraction open in London itself first. Think Horror Unleashed like they’re building in Vegas.

This could act as a preview centre.
