Potential New Universal UK Park

Fair play to the guy for starting a new Youtube channel based on the theme park, from the very start. Good idea. If you lived local it would be great to do that. Good luck to him, I think that'll go well!

Sounds like Mike Jeavons is doing it. He’s relatively big on YouTube and loves Universal and Towers. So makes complete sense for him to start this as a channel. I like his content too, always find it enjoyable.

There is talk of Universal offering on the handful of houses close to the site and residents having to sign NDAs, it's all speculation but that's all we can go off at the moment.

How many houses are there on that road that they potentially need to purchase? Looks fairly remote so I guess not too many???

Imagine your house is worth 350-400k and somebody offers you 650-700k to move 5 mins away. I know what I'd do :)

On paper its easy but plenty of people have emotional attachments to their home (not to mention the stress and inconvenience of moving) so it's not always purely financially driven.

Personally i'd keep the house but say i'm happy for the theme park to be built around it, just give me access for life :D

There are maybe a dozen houses on Manor Road. A couple of them are huge and pretty new, so will cost Universal a few quid I’d imagine.

As amazing as it would be to live really close to this park, I don’t want to live in the middle of it. Imagine the noise, traffic and sheer volume of people. If you chose to stay then by 2030 you’d be attaching balloons to your house and floating away to a tropical island in search of adventure.

As much as I love theme parks....having a major resort open 365 days a year on my doorstep is the stuff of nightmares tbf.
I'd be much happier living 15-30 minutes away where congestion to the site every morning didn't impact my daily life. I'm sure I'm not in the minority there either.

Buying a dozen houses for above market value is a drop in the ocean when you're committing upwards of 5 Billion though. You're talking £7-10m which is nothing compared the overall project cost. I don't see that being a major obstacle should they get awarded planning permission.

The road infrastructure still worries me though in the region. Im not familiar with the area being from Manchester but from what I have been reading rush hours can be pretty bad around Bedford as it is. Can't imagine having a park that could potentially attract 30k+ a people a day is going to help things either.

Better than living by an airport though! Plus majority of rides likely to be indoors so wouldn’t be too noisy. And you’d know the hours are sociable, like having a friendly noisy neighbour who has parties every day that end at dinner time, perfect.

Get a job on site so no commuting and keep the road maintained with your private security gate for friends/family and secret entrance to the park, a flawless plan.

Ok, now imagine a scenario when it’s Horror Nights and guests are leaving at 3am. Or your house backs onto city walk where clubs close at 2am. Or hotel rooms overlook your back garden. Or a projection show plays every 15 minutes until 10pm. I could go on.

Yeah but what if VelociCoaster went through your garden! People have much worse neighbours.

I’m kidding of course but I still maintain it’s more likely to be a park akin to Singapore in terms of scale/infrastructure than Orlando and I’d be surprised if they have nightclubs etc, at least initially.

And if you’re going to live in a theme park the obvious choice is in the gardens at AT.
