Quick Questions 2012

Think there is a member a staff there from 9 o'clock every time I have used it in the mornings

Quick query - Does anyone have the local number for the Merlin Annual Pass Team? I can only locate the 0844 number, and I'm not ringing from my mobile - would cost a fortune!

Thanks!

I've done lots of searching for one, and annoyingly I've not been able to find one yet. Most Merlin numbers are 10p per minuet, which is annoying off of any phone, be it mobile or landline ???

Hi everyone.

Whilst I was browsing pictures of Oblivion back in the early 2000's, I can't help but wonder how the queue was originally made back in 1998.

Basically, today's entrance instantly splits into 2 (left for fastrack, right for main queue) and spirals up to the top. Then, just before they meet up side-by-side, the main queue splits onto the left side, where the fastrack queue cuts into it on the right side, and from then onward, it continues until you reach the top of the hill where it is then split into 3.

But, looking at this picture from 2004-2005, just before the queue was changed slightly to accommodate single riders (http://gallery.towersalmanac.com/displa ... fullsize=1), the main queue seems to split before the fastrack/single rider queue cuts in on the right. So my guess here is that originally, there was never a fastrack queue leading to the left from the entrance, and when the rail splits the main queue into 2 before the 2nd building, the left side was for 1 train, and the right was for the 2nd. Is this correct?

So my 2 questions are:

1) Was the fastrack/single rider queue part of the queue line ever since Oblivion opened in 1998?
2) If not, how did the queue line work back in it's early days?

(Sorry if this sounds confusing, but this has been stumping me for the past couple of days and my memories of what the queue was originally like in the late 90's/early 00's isn't good)!

Thanks. :)

From my memories of when the ride opened, there was only one entrance (the current main queue entrance), im not sure if the fastrack path was a staff only path, or if it wasnt there at all. But the ride certainly didnt have fastrack or single rider when it opened.

As you can see from that photo the whole queue line had a railing down the middle, but it had gaps in it, I have no idea of the reasons for this, but I guess on a busy day they could create two queues if needed. It does seem quite confusing and even now where the railing is still split in the lower queue line people do seem confused.

Then when you got near the station you would go either left or right, both sides were used for the main queue. When single rider was added they created the 3rd way into the station building, and split that path into three.

When oblivion opened, the way the queue worked was that the left side queue for the first car in the station and the right hand side for the second. This was when there were no gaps in that railing and there was a shop with 2 sides to it.
It was a weird system, should have opened with 1 queue for the 2 shuttles

Was just wondering if you can still take a guest on for ERT with your annual pass like last year ??

Here's our official statement from earlier this year, should summarise everything up for you:

Hi all,

This is a little difficult to write as it's something we never thought we would see coming, but with a heavy heart we're today announcing our departure from the TowersTimes Team.

As some of you will be aware, over the years TowersTimes has had its ups and downs. In recent years though, we've seen a lively discussion forum, infamous nightly chat sessions and meet ups which have grown by astronomical proportions. Speaking personally, we had a team to be proud of too. I can honestly say every single person could be trusted and worked hard to make TT a place people loved and enjoyed, something which I'm sure most if not all of you will agree with. And what we were doing worked - TT@10 was a celebration of how far we'd come, and how much there was to look forward to.

However, some recent events have meant we have no option but to leave. Since the "new" team came on board a few years ago, Kaycee, Joel and Craig have prided themselves on ensuring that any major decisions that affected TowersTimes were discussed fully with fellow administrators at the very least, and with the rest of the team as much as possible.

There always seems to be a little confusion over this for some, but TT is not owned by myself, Kaycee or Craig and is owned by Chris-TT. A decision was made by Chris-TT to add someone to the team without any other team member's knowledge or any prior discussion overnight. As we currently have team applications for both site and forum, we felt this was massively unfair for those who had worked hard on their applications with the aim of everyone being considered equally as part of a discussion with the current team.

We as a team naturally questioned this stance with Chris-TT, but were told it was but a "miniscule" issue. We firmly feel that stance is totally incorrect and shows a complete lack of understanding and respect for the community which has emerged here as a result of the team's management.

So as of today, we are no longer team members on TowersTimes. Thanks to everyone who has supported us as a team over the years, and especially to those who we have formed lifelong friendships (and relationships!) with over the years. From a social perspective, I'm sure we will still be around on meet ups and the likes in future.

For those of you who have any questions, please feel free to speak to any of us on Facebook, MSN or via tin can and string.

Yours,

Craig (Former TT Administrator)
Kaycee (Former TT Administrator)
Joel (Former TT Technical Admin)

I've always had a non-AP holder gain ERT with me. It's simply showing your AP & then.... walking through the entrance to the ride. They don't challenge you, so I assume it's acceptable.

I have never heard of them letting none AP/Hotel guests/pre booked guests on during ERT, this year they check your pass or ticket at the entrance to each ride during ERT.

If I went to the park using a bounceback ticket, can I buy another (next day) bounceback ticket with it before leaving? Was unsure if they check tickets or not, and would have thought there was some policy for this so they're not losing money?

I don't think there should be any problem with getting another bounceback ticket. You could always try emailing or tweeting Towers just to check. :)

Question:

Is there a way to make sure that 2 people are on the same Oblivion photo? I've seen pictures of two people being on different photos even though they are sitting together.

Oblivion takes one overall picture of everyone during the drop, and then near the brakes it takes a picture of each pair. Essentially, make sure there's an even number of people either side of the two of you. If you imagine the seats in a row numbered 1 to 8, the photos are of seats 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6 and 7 & 8.

Thanks. :) Can anyone confirm? Don't want to jinx it too early by emailing AT - knowing my luck it'll only make them implement some ticket-checking rule!

when do the kids go back? im going on Wednesday :)

As previously stated it's mainly Wednesday for most years but some Year 7's and Sixth Formers go in today and some are on Inset Day as mine and a few others do. But my friends school go back on Thursday but I have been informed that some parts of Staffordshire even went back today but that's mainly the Primary schools the academic year started today but I think Wednesday would be a safe bet for multiple ride counts but Thursdays always seem not to be as busy anyway.
