Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone would generally recommend Alton Towers Hotel or Splash Landings Hotel, if they were the same price?

We'll be visiting in mid June, group of 6 22-24 year olds, planning on booking 2 rooms as part of the 1 night and 2 days in the park package. Using the save 40% link and BRO19 code on the website it's costing us £388 for ATH or £382 for SLH so basically the same.

I've visited the park many times but never any of the hotels, I was just wondering if either one is better or if it doesn't make much difference. At the moment I'm leaning towards ATH just because it's a 4* hotel and seems to give a buffet breakfast according to the site.

Advice would be appreciated, sorry for the length of this "quick question".

TL;DR: Is SLH or ATH better?

Previous warnings about screaming hyperactive children running the corridors in the middle of the night is the reason why we have never stayed over at the hotels.
Travelodge, nice b&b, even the campsite in Denstone, but never at the Towers.

Does anyone know if the tower ruins have closed now? I know they've started Scarefest preparations outside but is the entrance through the conservatory still open?

Been closed on every visit of mine this season. It really is crap how the towers seem to open about 4 days a season now. And even then you can’t access the basement, roof, banquet hall, etc etc.

Purely cost cutting because ents don’t take anything down anymore, even with old TOTT gone they never did open that section back up.

Might as well rename the park Alton Resort.

As much as this goes against everything I stand for and believe in... would the vast majority of guests be bothered?

The Towers used to be very popular, the majority of guests wouldnt care but the ruins always had a lot of people in them that I remember. I think they should at least open them now and then for guests even if its a guided walk type thing.

I actually got to enter the basement area as the door was open, this was the 9th-10th this month. I saw the hatch door you go through for Sub Species and the set up of a scare maze. I'm not sure if guests are allowed down there but i didn't see a sign that said no entry anywhere so i assumed we could enter (quite dark down there though).
