And if during the day you find someone has carelessly dropped a full price ticket on the ground, you could* pick it up and get a pass for no extra cost.

    * of course you shouldn't actually do this

And when did you last see a full price ticket on the ground at the Towers?
Only been going for forty years, yet to spot one!

I'm always seeing a few of them litter all over the floor inside the park, but then once they have been scanned, then they are no good.

Nothing in terms of those two projects I'm afraid as they cropped up before this site started so we had little content to use. That said, TT has some pictures of Project Dolphin and ThemeParkTourist has an excellent article on the cross valley woodie.

Ahhh Project Dolphin, that takes me back to my early day reading ATA and TT. Project Shark as well, anyone?

I wonder how Theme Park Tourist managed to get so much info about Project Shark; interestingly, they state that it would have contained a Tidal Wave-style shoot-the-chutes ride as well as the wooden coaster, something which I've never seen mentioned anywhere else on the internet. I wonder if there are any Q&As anywhere that shed any light on it?

Come to think of it, I did hear it mentioned in Tales from the Towers, but I think that may potentially have been written by the same man! By the way, I'd really recommend that book if you haven't read it already; it's a really interesting read!

The author of that article and the (rather excellent) book Tales from the Towers was Nick Sim, who sadly is no longer with us. He was an absolutely brilliant researcher though, speaking to many in the industry over the years and particularly during research for the book. Off the top of my head, I don't remember the shoot the chute being mentioned heavily back in the day, but then it was a while back now! Nick interviewed John Wardley a number of times over the years, so with Project Shark long resigned to the dustbin it was likely mentioned during one of their chats.

Ah right; thanks @Craig! I wonder if John Wardley will ever do another Q&A of any kind, as I believe he was involved with Project Shark? I must admit, it's a project that I'd like to hear more about!

I doubt there's all that much about it in all honesty. I doubt it even made it out of concept stage after they ended up going with Mutiny Bay, so it's unlikely there's that much out there apart from a bit of brainstorming and maybe a couple of rough sketches/concept art within Magic Making.

Is the gate to the car parks by Galactica open all season at park closing? I only found out on my last visit at Scare Fest you could exit from there rather than park entrance.

Great thanks. Good to know I can finish my day with some rides on Nemesis & not have to haul my lazy ar** across the park.

Received my premium Alton Towers pass today only a few days after ordering it, nice work Alton!

I notice it comes with free parking. I went over 10 times last year so it's an absolute bargain this year, will save me over £60 if i go as much this year.

Just wondering, how does the Free Parking work? Will you have to get a voucher or just show the season pass to the attendants at the parking barriers?

A very sensible thing to do, rather than walk all the way to the main entrance, only to have to walk all the way along the other side of the fence to reach your car, which will be very close to that gate anyway

Unless you park in express parking.
Then leave by Galactica and catch the monorail back to park entrance.
No que going back at end of day :p

I believe you will just show your Premium Season Pass at the barriers like you would a Premium Merlin Annual Pass!

You show the pass to the staff member at the barrier. Then they will open it. As the pass can't be read by the barrier.

Can’t say I’ve ever had the joy of express parking unfortunately :(
