Quick Questions

Does anyone know if you can visit without having to pre book as a passholder. I know they ask you to prebook however would you still be able to enter without doing so. Will you not get through the gates even if your pass is valid if you haven't prebooked
Technically you should pre book but the turnstiles aren’t linking your prebook to a pass. Staff don’t normally check, but up to you whether to take the chance.

I haven't pre-booked on the last two visits because the pre-booking system isn't working (still) for same day visits. Both times I dropped a message on the live chat first and they said it would be fine to just turn up, so worth doing that and screenshotting it just in case. My pass also won't scan at the turnstiles, i have no idea why but they just wave me through the gate regardless.

This is the way. Or just turn up at the gates and if your pass doesn't scan you through, just show them that there are still day tickets available to buy, then by rights they should allow you to enter (not that they would probably be bothered enough to want to see that anyway if they know it's not likely to be anywhere near a full to capacity day).

I’m staying in the enchanted village in June and was wondering if the entrance was only for the hotel or is it for all the hotel guest

The Galacitica gate entrance is for all resort guests, regardless of where they are staying, so you will be able to use it. You'll just need to show them proof of your hotel reservation.

Hi, are the refillable hot mugs still a thing - I'm a regular with these but I'm sure I've read AT has discontinued them?

TIA

Has anyone used the Sun Superdays free ticket offer for Towers? Are the online codes on the coupons or is it a separate thing?

I used it last year. You just collect the tokens in the paper each day by banking them on the Sun Savers website or app. When the booking period opens you can select the day you want to visit (though sometimes you’ll be placed on a queue to book if you try right when booking opens). Your ticket will display straight away on the website or app and you just scan it at the turnstile when you visit.

You can also get vouchers in Carex handwash and milkshakes, can’t remember if it’s Frijj doing them though.

Thanks for clarifying it, the wording on the website was a bit confusing. Booking opens tomorrow so as soon as I get the tokens from my granddad I'll sort it. Hard part will be finding someone to go with lol. What are the options like, are they valid on off-peak days?

Yes, definitely valid on off peak days but you’ll find that some peak weekends are unavailable to book (that might be due to then limiting the numbers that can book on those days with the Sun Savers offer. Assume that Scarefest will be unavailable as well.

What you can do is set up your Sun Savers account now (either online or through the app) and ask your Granddad to give you the codes so you get them banked and be ready to go as soon as the booking opens. Like I say you can get put in a queue to access the SunSavers website and app at the time the booking goes live to prevent it crashing so it’s better to be all ready in advance.

RyanUK This offer is for two free tickets to Towers when you collect the tokens in The Sun, you just pay a £2 booking fee. Its a much better offer than the chocolate pack BOGOF where you have to spend £60 (or whatever the gate price is to get the two tickets). This Sun one essentially gets you two tickets for about a £12 total spend on the twelve newspapers you need and the price of the booking fee.

Thanks, yeah I've already registered so it's ready to go. My grandad should be posting them tomorrow I think. Should get them in a couple of days hopefully. I'm planning to use it on an off peak day so should have to worry about availability.

Edit: just installing the app now so I can scan the codes instead of type them in.

What are crowds typically like on the May bank holidays? Is it busiest on Saturday, Sunday or Mondays of a Bank Holiday weekend?

The bank holiday Monday will be the quietest, everyone thinks it will be busy, so they go at the weekend, meaning no one visits on the Monday.

Plus a lot of the bank holidays are black out dates for lots of the pass holders.

To swing back to pre-booking for a moment, and forgive me if I'm naive but I hadn't set foot in AT since 2015 until this year, how does the pre-booking 'no-show' stuff work if pass scanning isn't linked to visits?

I've been a few times already and only had my pre-booking checked once, but if the turnstiles/manual scanners aren't linked to the pre-bookings, how do they know if you've not turned up?
Is it more of a deterrent than an actual thing? I guess this only applies to Alton Towers, maybe the other attractions are more strict (I'm assuming the timed slot ones are, at least)

I don’t think it’s linked what so ever at all. I’ve definitely not pre booked more times than I have pre booked. But at Alton towers there is never an issue except for some peak Halloween dates and fireworks.

I imagine if you didn’t turn up at the likes of Bear Grylls or something then they may report you or something. But not sure if they actually do or not.

Only park I’ve heard which care about pre books is Legoland and I guess that is because the staff have to scan your pass.
