Ride Availability/Operations 2022-24

Been running OK today, I rode it around 7pm, was OK. I did notice they were having bother with the door leading to the pre-show. Might be something to do with that.
Last night I saw someone forcibly hold it open when it was trying to close, maybe that's had something to do with it 🤷‍♂️

The door was having issues on Sunday evening too, at least I think was. The ride / show operator kept flitting between the pre-show and the post-bag drop holding pen, pushing the automatic door each time. If it wasn't borked before, it was most certainly borked after. Correlation doesn't equal causation though. Whilst the door mechanism may be having issues, as @John and @AT86 have pointed out, it's unlikely to be the reason why the ride is entering a maintenance period.

The amount of wicker which is missing from the walls is a shame too. I hope that they can rectify that over the closed season.

I agree it's probably not a good reason to close the ride for 2 days, but it does seem to have been added very last minute, and whatever the reason was wasn't enough to warrant stopping the ride from operating today. So rather last minute/urgent, but nothing that meant the ride wasn't safe for people to ride today till closing (or I assume so, I went to Nemesis and Galactica for last rides) but can confirm Wickerman was running fine at 7pm apart from the issue with the door.

At around 7:00/7:15 we were leaving the station and the house lights switched on if this adds to anything? I did think it was usual for it to come out of show mode for something?

What I will say is…

Last year, they wouldn’t have placed these closures on the availabilty page and it would just close with no warning (granted, the notice is short) but at least they’re being a little more transparent this year.

All of the extended closures this year have been placed on the page at least.

Whether they are warranted or not is an entirely different discussion.

I've unearthed a transcript from a recent management meeting at AT:

Manager 1: we're hitting crisis points ladies and gentlemen. Trustpilot scores are down, and we can't get rides open on time. Any solutions as to how we combat these issues?

General mumbling in the room. A faint suggestion from the back.

Manager 1: what was that, at the back? You there, speak up.

Sub Manager 98: well, what if we cut ride opening times? if the average guest sees that Rita isn't scheduled to open till 11am, but in fact, opens 45 minuttes earlier, said guest might well say "well thats impressive, opening rides earlier than advertised" and plaster all over trustpilot how good we are at getting rides open early.

Stunned silence in the room as everyone looks at each other.

Manager 1: by jove, he's done it. Margaret, call maintenance, we've cracked it, we'll get those Trustpilot scores up yet. Now, let's move on to point number 2 on the agenda, how can we increase food prices whilst keeping our beloved friends and partner Aramark ...

It ran well today. We rode it between 7 and half past and there didn’t seem to be any issues. Pretty sure it ran ok until close.

Nemesis did not…. Joined the queue at around 20 to 8 and it went down with some very very weird operations. They stated the queue was 25 minutes and it was all in the fast track (just down the stairs next to the loop). Operator said download this train and it suddenly went down. Zero communication at all, they stated at 7:56 for everyone to leave the ride it’s not coming back up.

They said they will extend Air’s opening time (which we did) then came off the last train to witness Nemesis going round at 8:20pm.

Weird ops all day, Nemesis was on one train In the morning for about an hour which is a joke given the choices available at 10. Oblivion on 1 station all day, 13 on two trains. It feels like the staff have given up for the season. Unless you are going within the next few days I wouldn’t bother as they are not ready for a busy scarefest/fireworks.

Soo annoyed come mainly for night rides on wickerman for them to announce a closure last night. What on earth are they doing at this park thats such bad management.

I have no interest renewing my merlin pass with there inept running of the park.
