Dozens Injured When Gentle Wave Pool Releases Giant Tsunami
The operator got drunk and turned the wave magnitude to maximum level.
This could also belong in Surreal News Articles![]()
Please tell me this guy was given legend status.

Having read the whole article it does say the attraction is officialy reporting it was faulty equipment, not an operator. Not only does this make more sense but they've included the full video (deffientley check it out) and you can see that people are thrown out of the pool and the water overflows, flooding the surrounding area. Clearly this is not something that could happen under normal operation.

Another Indian /Pakistani /Bangladeshi theme park, another fatal flat ride accident..... There is a serious issue with regulations around maintinace of these rides out there - I think it says it all that the ride opp fled the scene
Edit: oops didn't spot this one is Greek as my phone cut it off the page!

Saw this on Coasterforce:
2 people have died in Mexico after an accident on Quimera (formerly Magnum Force) at La Feria de Chapultepec
https://www.milenio.com/politica/comunidad/feria-chapultepec-accidente-juego-kimera-deja-muertos
There's some more information in this facebook thread but, fair warning, there's some GRAPHIC images in the comments:

(changed it to a mobile link because one of the images in the preview wasn't very family friendly. Stupid forum changing a link to preview)

The photo of the biological material on the side of the building is very telling on the injuries one of them received.
Putting photos of the dead bodies online is fascinating for anyone who is trained in mechanics of injury. However i think it a bit disrespectful to the people that died.

I can't view the comments for some reason but I'm a strong believer that we should not censor or self-sensor images of accidents, even fatal ones, at most put them behind a spoiler tag or a verbal warning if in a video and be careful with any identifiable features, therefore you give the viewer the choice to look away, but "shielding" people from real life does nobody any favours long term or if they ever encounter such accidents in person.
A fine example of why we shouldn't be doing this was when the news censored Antonio Hubert's crash at Spa the other week because it "contained upsetting images", but they censored it AFTER the point where he'd received his injuries because the person doing the censoring had no idea what they were doing, thus ending up showing the whole event in graphic detail and not protecting anybody from "the upsetting images" at all.

I have mixed views on this. I witnessed a guy getting hit by a train and don't understand why anyone needs to see that - not least for the sake of his family or indeed the man himself. Does dignity not play a part at all?
I wouldn't go as far as saying I have nightmares, or that I relive that moment again and again but I do think about it from time to time and can still 'see it in my mind' - people seeking such stuff out is a bit lost of me.
I guess the reason I have mixed views on this is that some footage not entirely dissimilar plays an important role in history and it's important people do see it, whether it wars, the holocaust etc.
