Scarefest 2012
Just had an idea, not sure how plausible it is. But you know the snooze boxes? The ones Thorpe Park are using for a "temporary" hotel? It would be pretty cool to utilize them for scare rooms.
You could then even have a camp-fire in the middle for ghost story's and the like, and an almost Friday the 13th atmosphere. It will atleast solve the problem with noise in the hotels!
can then be more interactive as you aren't confined to one room...
Just an idea!

Using the Pink Lodge would be a great move if you ask me, but I can imagine the practicality and setup required would be too much to justify it when they already have hotel rooms with all the amenities and utilities needed.
If you think about it, you'd need to take staff out of the hotels to supervise everyone in the lodge, which would inevitably mean having to pay extra staff at one end or the other. You need to get all the beds and facilities into the lodge. You need to make sure you've got proper facilities for the guests. It's no use them having to walk through the gardens to find the nearest toilet
You would also need some way of escorting the whole group to and from the restaurants at the hotel for dinner and breakfast to ensure they aren't all wandering around the theme park late at night or early in the morning. As awesome as it'd be to do something like this I think there would just be too many complications in making the idea work for them to consider it
That said, it would be awesome for them to turn one of the larger buildings, like the Pink Lodge into a scaremaze/zone for Scarefest. Make it a walkthrough attraction where groups can pass through, going from room to room and watching different scenes!
I would actually be quite surprised if they don't use the Pink Lodge for storage actually! If there isn't anything in there I'd be very surprised! If I remember rightly, the Swiss Cotage has a few things in it back from its days as a staff traning room, and a green room(?). Apparently, it even has network ports in a lot of the rooms from when it as used!
If Alton are blessed with one thing though, it's all the buildings they have dotted around the site which they can use for storage. It completely eliminates the need to build a big, ugly, tin warehouse in the park

The Swiss doesn't have much in it and it's a shame that it's not used because it could make for a great attraction, cafe or even just some nice office space. A maze in any of these buildings would be fantastic because they old and creepy buildings rather than being just a large tent.
Shame they don't use it as a restaurant now, but a scaremaze in here would be awesome!

All day dining has been confirmed for scarefest, albeit it at an even higher premium. Rate now stands at a staggering (or waddling if you eat enough) rate of: £18 a child and £29 per adult/monster.
My jaw just hit the floor!.. bypassing several donuts, bottles of coke, burgers, fries, chicken, more donuts, coke, waffles, fish and chips, pancakes, donuts, coke, pizza, coke, donuts, pasta and some donuts.

Seriously, how do the expect people not to breach the terms and get food for the entire group with prices like that?
It was such a good incentive but with prices like that, they're not the only ones who can forget their morals. People will just buy one and feed the family off donuts and such lark. Shame, as if it was a lower price, people maybe wouldn't and it would be more successful.

When I had a brief visit on park today I noticed some banging/drilling coming from the side of the goalstriker building, where the zombie scarezone was last year. I have no idea if its related to Scarefest or indeed SW7, but thought it might be interest here.
For the record goalstriker is still open as normal.

Today on park the goal striker building was having a number of fire exits added to the building in preparation for TS use as a maze, also Her Ladyships Gardens have closed to the public.
Finally not strictly speaking Scarefest but a second temporary tunnel under Rita's launch clearly in anticipation of the Scarefest and Fireworks crowds.
