As much as I don't like VR on coasters, it does seem to be getting some good reviews with people saying the graphics are excellent.

That's certainly one of the more feature rich videos I've seen.

Hard to tell until you're on it, but it seems as if there is all the lateral movement of the train represented in the video, but not so much longitudinal - you appear to be going very slowly on the VR as the train is hurtling around.

If @Sazzle liked the new ride entrance, she's going to love the VR film! ;)

An impressive film with plenty of detail I agree. Will be interesting to see how the VR fad goes down in Orlando.

:)

I am delighted to report that those wanting to ride Kraken Unleashed currently have a 400 minute wait :p

Thank goodness for the free virtual queue system!

It's in no small part down to the virtual queue that the standby queue is 400 minutes :)

Problem is it suffers from Galactica Syndrome... Lots of staff members wiping down the goggles, taking time to calibrate the headsets making sure every rider is okay to go. It's never going to be quick. At least they are allowing riders to ride with or without the headsets from day one...

I think it's fair to say the ride has also been much more popular than was anticipated. It seems to be going down a treat marketing wise, more so than Mako ever did which seems strange to me. It actually hit 650 minutes yesterday and the rest of the park is definitely busier than this time last year.

If there are enough people in the park for an 11 hour virtual queue, just think what the queues are going to be like for the other attractions/F&B. The Volcano Bay effect!

:)

It doesn't seem to have had such a bad effect, Mako never went above 40 mins yesterday and Manta never went above 50. What they do need to do is spread more awareness amongst guests about the virtual queue system as currently there are many just turning up to the ride expecting to be able to join a standard queue.

I still kinda hope that they let the VR run for a couple of years, maybe until the 2020 attraction opens, and then remove it as it won't be a huge draw anymore.

Given its a virtual queue I don't think it's as simple as saying it's attracting massive queues therefore it is more popular than other recent additions (couldn't say for sure though). Given the VR addition and as mentioned above its highly likely that the throughput of the ride has been severely limited much like Galatica and people who wouldnt join a several hour real queue are more likely to join a long virtual queue in the knowledge that they can do other things whilst they wait or if it came to it go home if they didn't want to wait around any longer.

When I first went on it years ago I really liked Kraken but when visiting last year seemed a bit neglected compared to the other big coasters. It felt like it was themed around a series of concrete pits not a sea monster. Although I'm not a massive fan of VR on coasters it looks a decent quality but hard to tell what it would actually be like without going on the ride.

Would be interested to see how well it's received in Orlando in general given the heavy screen based approach used elsewhere in the area.

I am pleased to see that crowds are picking up, hopefully thing is a longer term trend rather than a one off period.
