There'd be no health and safety reason not to (unless there's something crazily unique requiring OTSRs about it), I think the only potential obstacle would be that in the UK almost every inverting coaster has OTSRs, so it's a public expectation and other restraints could possibly be viewed as unsafe by the GP!

Answer: Of course they will! Not only can I list many looping rides which have lap bars but let’s not forget that the very first looping coasters were built with lap bars and in their long lifespan never once caused an incident.
As much as we rag about Health & Safety in this country on the whole they are quite reasonable with any new developments. It’s only when an incident occurs that they start getting over cautious and even then we only hear about the really stupid cases.

EDIT: Also see my post a few pages back for my answer of what the carts will be like. To summarise I think it will be 4 rows which each articulate separately. One Euro-Fighter with 4 rows probably wouldn't be flexible enough. Two Euro-Fighters stuck together doesn't work because of the way they are designed.

Surely we're at SW7 now not being a Euro-fighter? The press release says this is
That's supported by the fact that these 4x4 cars/trains aren't like any other Euro-fighter out there, and we also can't see the Euro-fighter's trademark beyond vertical drop anywhere in the plans (with the caveats that it might be in the indoor section and the outdoor section design may be significantly different from that submitted for planning).
I think we're looking at something new from Gerstlauer, albeit evolved from the DNA of their commercially successful Euro-Fighters. It would make sense that Gerstlauer have got something new, since they've been flogging Euro-Fighters for near enough a decade now.

The issue is that the phrase keeps changing... It's world beating on the signs, worlds first on some sites and now first of its kind. Each means something different to different people so without consistency it's hard to judge exactly what the ride will be.
My insane two rows forward and two rows back idea still fits though I have 1% belief in it... Hopefully we will just see four rows of individually articulated seats with lap bars.

That kind of misconception could actually work well for Alton possibly? A bit like the Swarm tearing dummies limbs off PR, which seemed to make people even crazier to ride it. Lapbars on this would certainly give Alton the ammunition to market it as the scariest thing since sliced bread.

But if Merlin say that the GP tell them that they're scared of woodies and that means Merlin won't build a wooden coaster at Alton Towers (or any of the UK parks so far), what's their excuse if the GP are much more openly scared about lap bars on an inverting coaster and they go and build a coaster that inverts with lap bars anyway?
