But if Merlin say that the GP tell them that they're scared of woodies and that means Merlin won't build a wooden coaster at Alton Towers (or any of the UK parks so far), what's their excuse if the GP are much more openly scared about lap bars on an inverting coaster and they go and build a coaster that inverts with lap bars anyway?

Just a thought.
Merlin say a lot of things... most of it is rubbish. XD

I'm really confused by the plans now. People who said 6 months ago that the product will never differ from the plans have now made a 180 and said its definitely different

I don't know what to think!

Plenty of people (myself included) speculated that the plans where incorrect in regards to layout due to the wording of the plans. Makes things much more exciting :D

Sorry, phone fail for the double post.

I agree, it does make it more exciting. I've always been erring on the side of caution re the plans, but are we now 100% they aren't matching?

I dont think any1 is 100% certain atm, as much as they say they are.

the site is still very much a hole and is hard to predict.....

Let's be honest, a few days ago most people were still under the impression concrete was washed away when the photos were there to see the truth.

Couple of weeks to go when track goes in will give a much better insight.

Proof that the "GP" are morons who don't deserve to be let in to parks...

What a wonderful point of view, wonderfully offensive that is.

If the public do not trust the system they will not ride the system, if they do not ride they will not pay to enter the park, if they do not enter the park???? Park/ride closes and enthusiasts loose out.

GP spends the money that pays for the park

Swing anda-miss.

You're not familiar with Diogo's post style, are you? :p

A simple grounding in the basics of physics is all it takes. GCSE level is more than enough to know what is "safe".

I know that the plans are hotly contested, and even more so now the news regarding the train has been released. However, both the ITV and Daily Mail websites are running pictures of the proposed plans that match those from the planning portal.

I know you cant believe anything you read in the Daily Mail (especially the health section) but surely they'd give them the right plan to run with?

I dont mind the track layout changing, I just thought that the existing plans looked excellent. I'd hate to lose some inversions!

Regarding the trains, I'm sure they won't just be "two Eurofighter cars put together" as some people are saying. This is clearly Gerstlauer's biggest project and something a bit different for them, I'm confident that they will have developed new trains for this. They may be similar to Eurofighter cars, but they won't just be two of them put together.

:)

Who says Towers gave them the plans, knowing newspapers they probably googled SW7 and got the information from either TowersStreet or TowersTimes SW7 sites.

Sorry to be that guy, but if the plans have indeed changed, should we really still be confident this is a Gerstlauer? In that interview with Gerst management Georgiaaaaaaaaaaa put in the shoutbox they talked about how their major new innovation for 2013 was launched 8-seat trains, not 16 as will be on SW7.

I am yes, doesn't stop it being annoying and offensive though

Not saying Towers gave them the plans, but at the same time I get the feeling that "New Rollercoaster at AT" isnt at the top of their investigative priorities. It screams of press release, or am I being overly negative?

Do you have a link to that article? It was the sound report in the plans that stated that this coaster would be the same manufacturer as Saw.

As for the plans, I'd imagine Towers did provide that specific picture of the plans to the press in a press release pack that they probably sent out. It's something that they are able to show off I guess. Do it mean the plans are real? I still don't think so for the reason I pointed out last night, the plans in no way match the work on the site.

:)

Exactly, and if we doubt the validity of the plans then surely we doubt the validity of a minor sound report. Saying that, I'm not really sure if anyone else is more likely to make 4x4 trains than Gerst.

I've just found the link (here), and whilst it does say the 8-person launch vehicles are one of "some more firsts"; surely they'd mention if they had created 16-person inverting trains. Who knows.

Unless there's another feature included in the new 16-person trains and they have been asked by Merlin Studios to keep it a secret for now?

I was speaking in the Shoutbox about this earlier and pointed out that the new launch cars will most likely be for Erlebnispark Tripsdrill's new LSM coaster as it doesn't mention anything regarding a new kind of eurofighter other than the latest variation used for Iron Shark which features lap bars.

The new coaster isn't labelled as a new eurofighter variant but as a new launch coaster. As far as everyone is aware, this is going to be a eurofighter of some sort.

However, the "some more firsts" bit could be Gerstlauer hinting at SW7 but being unable to go any further because of Merlin/Alton Towers.

I wonder why we continue to believe 100% that this is a Gerstlauer when the so-called "accurate" plans already look like being completely different to the actual ride - as well as the spider theming having no visible connection to the Sanctuary idea whatsoever. Who's to say that the noise report isn't wrong as well?
