I must admit, I don't want the Conservatives to get a majority personally, and as I've said many times before, I've never supported Brexit, but a Conservative majority seems very likely, so I may as well take whatever happens tomorrow as positively and enthusiastically as I can!

So now we have a Conservative majority it seems almost guaranteed that the UK will leave the EU on the 31st January, and we'll enter the transition stage.
One of the more interesting things is a healthy majority for Boris Johnson means he can potentially ignore the more extreme Brexiteers, ERG etc when agreeing the future relationship with the EU. It might actually be softer than it would have been with a minority government.
What do people think will happen next?

Whatever happens, the Tories own Brexit now.
When it turns out to be an even more monumental fuckstorm than we already think it is, they won't be able to blame anyone else.
Conservative referendum, a Conservative deal, voted through by a Conservative majority.
It seems that we really need to hit rock bottom before people help themselves.

All this doom and gloom about Brexit..... yes it may not work out well for the country, however, lets also have a bit of optimism here, it may also work out very well for this country. We could have stayed in the EU and the whole EU project goes down the pan and takes us with it. Could work either way.
So, we have to just wait and see.

I don't see it as a positive thing, so can't be optimistic about it.
And us leaving may eventually be the cause of the whole EU project going down the drain. The fact that we've left (whatever that ends up meaning) doesn't protect us from it, we'll be on the sinking ship unable to help steer it.

This was just the easy bit. Beating a old man who was too far to the left to ever win enough votes. Now Boris has to navigate Brexit itself and the years of trade talks etc. He can't hide behind his attack on Corbyn any longer. The whole country is now looking to him and him alone.
If Brexit goes well I'm sure he'll be remembered fondly in years to come. If it goes badly it will destroy the tory party for good. People are two faced and if Brexit destroys our economy the Tory party will never be forgiven. It's not a job that I'd want. Good luck Boris. Hahahaha.

If they think restricting immigration and charging them a bit more to use the NHS will be enough to cut tax and pump significant amounts of money into schools, the NHS and defence, they're crazy.This is what Boris has promised will happen within the first 100 days of this election if he got a majoiry. Lets see what happens
Also, review of defence and explore care are both very wishy washy.
Now everything seems to have calmed down somewhat (although that could just be depression) I can explain that I was deliberately trying avoid arguments that I felt would be blindly denied for points, and trying to avoid having to quote wrongthink sources.
Since this seems the calmist things are going to get, might as well mention them now...
For example, my reasons for wanting to leave the EU...
My main reason is because I believe that the EU is undemocratic, anti freedom, deeply corrupt and that they are heavily biased against the UK, in favour of France and Germany!
While (probably due to being autistic) I can't remember what influenced my original opinion 3 years ago (so I can't link to that), I can link a video that was made after the referendum (during May's run as PM I think) that basically align with my viewpoint on the EU.
I watched it when it was first made and it pretty much confirmed all my issues with the EU + lots of other stuff I had never even heard of.
Even though it's an hour long, I would highly recommend finding the time to watch it.

This is precisely what May was trying to do with her election call two years ago. Remember that she had a small majority then, but wanted more wriggled room to get past the ardent Brexiteers.
Whatever happens now we will see what Johnson is really about. To gain power he will do, say and back almost anything - but now that he has it, and particularly in these early years, he might just do what he actually wants and believes.
