The Great Squeeze: Cost of Living Crisis 2022
Determine which party other than Tories is most likely to win in your constituency. Vote for them.I’m very happy to vote for someone else to come into power….
Question is who?
Anything else is a wasted vote and/or a vote for the Tories.
Not the party who've shafted us over 12 years would be my recommendation.

They really don’t, can you hand on heart say you felt that things where this tricky in 2001?

No they were not - but
We hadn’t just come out of a global pandemic
We didn’t have Brexit on top of the pandemic
And we didn't have a war in Europe either
So we are in uncharted territory really.

Okay so next question, in 2015 did you think things where better than 2001?

Honestly I can’t remember. I don’t recall 2015 being a problem for me personally. I think things were generally ok ish until the pandemic

I think in the late 90s/early 00s, the UK had a sense of optimism. This was partly reduced due to the controversial war in Iraq, but on the home front, things were positive.
By the mid 2010s, cuts were the word on the street and the UK was not in the same mindset.

Broadband connectivity, although that's more a progress thing than a governance thing. The country is on its knees after 12 years of Conservative mismanagement and people are still undecided how to vote...?
Is there anything in this country that's better than it was 12 years ago?
No is the answer basically.

And you don't think the government that has been in charge for 12 YEARS bares any responsibility for any of this?
Granted, they didn't cause the pandemic, but they chose to respond to it the way they did.
I really don't need to explain their role in Brexit to you do I? We're all intelligent people here so let's leave it at that shall we?
You're incorrect, we did have war in Europe. Russia annexed the Donbas and Crimea in 2014. The UK government, like most of their western allies decided to do almost nothing about it.
So if we are in uncharted territory, it's the government that we've had for (and I repeat) 12 years that has played a part in sailing us into those waters.
How many other excuses can be made for this government? I fully accept that HM Opposition aren't doing a good enough job but have we not witnessed a whole summer of government members THEMSELVES telling us all how bad their own administration is?
I'm 40 and I've never known this country to be so forgiving to such a failed administration. In the last 6 years, the world really has gone mad.
I’m pretty sure even the eternal optimist @Matt N would struggle to come up with something?IIs there anything in this country that's better than it was 12 years ago?
I’m not making excuses, I’m saying what has happened in the past 2-3 years and being realistic, I doubt any Government would have done a good job of handling all three.
I don’t deny what has happened over the past 12 years, but going back to my original question, so could we have run the country because I don’t see anyone out there at the moment who seems up to the job.

Yes, who to vote for. Labour? You really think Labour will do any better? That’s your hope but I don’t think they will. No Lib Dems around either.
I’ll vote for whoever I think is best up to the job of running the country. I don’t care what party they belong to - but at the moment I don’t see anyone worthy of my vote.

Yes I do. The Conservatives have had twelve years to show how they can make country better and failed on all counts.Yes, who to vote for. Labour? You really think Labour will do any better?
The thing is, the Tories have *proven* they cannot run the country. There is hard evidence of that.
For Labour and the Lib Dems, they haven't proven they cannot. Nor that they can. But that is better than the former.
Fair point - but let’s not forget Labour haven’t exactly got a great track record either

I would say that Labour did better between 1997 and 2005 than Conservatives have done since 2010.
At least we had investment in public services back in the late 1990s.
