The I Feel Happy Topic!

After thinking about potentially wanting one for a while, and the battery on my current one deteriorating as of late, I bought myself a larger iPad and it's coming on Monday! I've had the 7.9" iPad mini size for 6 years, so I'm looking forward to having nearly 3 inches more screen space on my new 10.5" model, and the new model I've ordered has nearly double the processing power of my current one!

On the whole, in these times where I'm must admit I'm not really that happy compared to usual, it's nice to have something like this to look forward to!
EDIT: Sorry for double posting!
Out of curiosity do you find the older one slow? I'm using an iPad Pro for uni and it's still going strong, though unfortunately there is some light bleed at the edge of the screen. Not sure why

The trick with iPrats is to NEVER, under any circumstanses, allow the OS to update. Then they will keep going as fast as when they were new until the battery eventually dies.

I am a bit shocked that a teen is saving up for something and not getting it on credit.

I must admit I ummed and ahhed for a while about actually buying it, as I was initially struggling to justify the purchase in my head, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense! As I said, I don't really spend money much, so over time, I've saved quite a bit! It's good for me because it means I can pay for some things I want myself and also pay for the odd nice thing for family members too!

I like to think of myself as frugal or careful with money, but my parents would prefer to use a different term...

I don't find it slow, but my battery has definitely deteriorated lately; my current iPad mini 4 does an odd thing where it turns straight off if I take it off a charger, and it also loses battery quicker than it used to. It's more that I've been thinking that I'd like a bigger screen and think it might be useful.

On the whole, though, I find that Apple devices have always served me well for years and years of use!

Software updates are very important if you want to keep your device supported and secure, as they often provide performance enhancements and useful security fixes!

Also, I thought Apple had changed their software updates so that they didn't slow down the devices anymore?

I couldn't care less if my device is "supported". I come from the "build your own PC" generation. I want functional hardware with ONLY the software I choose to install on it.

But you enjoy your new toy, of course, and do what ypu like with it. :)

Fair enough; I suppose different things work for different people!

And thank you; I'm sure I'll love it!

If you are earning more than usual during furlough, expect a considerable extra bill from the taxman at the end of the tax year speedy!

I believe it's calculated as an average of what you want over the past year? Not 100% sure though. I used to do two days then went down to one per week so that's probably why

For the third month in a row, I was successful at buying the items I wanted from the Minnie Mouse Main Attraction collection, online at the Disney Store. (They call it Shop Disney now, it will always be the Disney Store in my eyes).

I'm not saying that I am gloating or anything, but I've never had any issues getting the items I want each month when they release them, so it is..... sort of..... funny reading all the "wah wah wah" comments on their FB page from people who never seem to have any luck with their purchases at all. Maybe a good ol' PC beats an phone app!

I really can't wait to receive my items, which were confirmed today as being shipped. Never actually experienced the Tiki Room, but I've watched videos of it online, and it looks so... vintage, it's charming.

Today was the first time I've been anywhere other than work, home or Morrisons/Tesco since lockdown. Went up to Towers for a walk around the area and I finally went to see the Chained Oak for the first time. Hearing Blivvy test was great as well, and it was good to walk along the old trackbed from the old station back to Ramblers Retreat. Perhaps more importantly, though, was meeting @Poisson - the first person I'd seen in weeks who wasn't a colleague, my parents, or someone I bumped into while out shopping. I needed it, I really did. Plus it was good to get out of the house on a really nice day.

Good for you! I'd love to do that walk sometime, thinking of driving up to there and hopefully finding somewhere to park so we can see the chained oak. Love the area around Congleton. :) Miss the cakes from Crema Deli. Wrong area of Cheshire for them to deliver. :p

I'd been out the house just three times since this began, just for click and collect purposes. Today I went to two garden nurseries.... Almost came home to be honest, absolutely on edge. Probably overly wary of any human coming too near to me but it's been so long since I've been near a stranger, it was surreal.

I was definitely keeping my distance from others more than they were keeping away from me, but nothing untoward happened. Put it this way, if I get coronovirus from today then we may we well build bunkers and wait it out forever.

It sounds bad, but I'm so used to customers completely ignoring social distancing rules (yay for working in retail) that I'm not overly bothered now. I'm honestly surprised I've managed to last this long without getting it, or if I've already had it, then I must've been asymptomatic or something!

Pah, people are just so annoying at the best of times (not a people person in a normal world) it's hard to imagine how much more stupid the human race can get...then throw a pandemic our way and you'll find out. I hope when all this is over, something good comes the way of all those who may not be caring for the sick but are providing the rest of us with food, goods and just the things that are making life bearable at the moment. As well as dealing with idiots on a daily basis. You're not being paid enough for that. Well hopefully you've never had it, and it's a good sign that contagious it may well be, it is still possible to be around people and be safe.

I genuinely don't think I could have coped mentally with going into stores. Thank God for online food deliveries. Or any online delivery. Even if we are washing everything that enters the house. Which is a pain, but I've not spent all this time indoors to touch a contaminated bottle of tomato sauce!

I forgot to add, my reason for feeling happy is I now have some new plants that admittedly I need to find room for, but hey ho.
