The I Feel Happy Topic!

OOHHHH MYYY GOOODDD.

During my third year at Uni I had the landlord from HELL. Not adequately protecting my deposit, HMO breaches left right and centre and general douchebaggery. It left me in a right mess.
At the end of my tenancy 9 months ago, I requested my full deposit back l, went through all the proper legal channels, and joined a tenants union. The b*stard even filed a counter claim.

Today was the hearing. Landlord didn't have the gall to even show up. No documents, evidence or communication. Just a statement full of slander (I intentionally made myself homeless? Lmao).
Judge threw out his entire case and awarded me my full deposit + compensation + all my fees.

IT'S FINALLY OVER. Honestly, its such a huge relief and I'm nicely bevved up already.

Join a union!!!
Glad to hear Panda, you can relax now! :)

I hope some of his other ex tenants that he did the same to come forward and do the same. So he end up having to sell his properties to some good landlords. And he can stop with the scamming of uni students.

Nice, hope you asked for costs too (can't remember the exact reference but you can also claim an hourly rate for hearing preparation and a per document preparation cost).

You don't absolutely need to join a union though, I took on a multi-national trillion dollar bank when everybody was telling me to just give it up, and won a few years ago, little old me v a room full of lawyers, Judge even told them to stop interrupting or he would hold them all in contempt and he even said "respect is earned not commanded, if you say with all due respect one more time Sir, you will be spending the night in the cells" to the lead as he was so sick of them (they sent a team of 9 people to a County Court hearing - I unfortunately agreed to their attendance, later found out I could have objected and only the lead would have been let in, it must have cost them more in fees than the case was worth though) yet the Judge found in my favour in the end and they ran off with their tails between their legs, must admit though, it was so satisfying to win.

Hope your value is enough to elevate it to HCEA straight away and not have to bother with regular bailiffs, HCEA's have far far more powers than a regular old fatty and will get your money, think the threshold is £750, or it was.

Despite being holed up indoors, I've had at least some positive news as of late - I've been offered a promotion at work to senior software developer! :grinning:

Was absolutely ecstatic when I found out - shame I couldn't leave the house to celebrate, but had a nice celebratory drink over Skype with some friends :)

Congratulations Leigh! Something to look forward to. :)

After thinking about potentially wanting one for a while, and the battery on my current one deteriorating as of late, I bought myself a larger iPad and it's coming on Monday! I've had the 7.9" iPad mini size for 6 years, so I'm looking forward to having nearly 3 inches more screen space on my new 10.5" model, and the new model I've ordered has nearly double the processing power of my current one!

On the whole, in these times where I'm must admit I'm not really that happy compared to usual, it's nice to have something like this to look forward to!
EDIT: Sorry for double posting!

There's something deeply wrong when a 16 year old is able to buy a new iPad at a time when most adults on the planet are unemployed.
Also, furlough money! I'm not sure how they calculate it but I'm now earning more than I was while at work ...

I must admit, I don't really spend much money that often, so I had quite a lot saved. The only other major thing I bought recently was my premium MAP at the start of 2020.
I am a bit shocked that a teen is saving up for something and not getting it on credit.
