Visitors to Alton Towers will now get to enjoy the world’s first 14-loop rollercoaster after it opened at the theme park this week.
As well as being turned upside down numerous times, riders of the Smiler will also be disorientated by a series of optical effects and bright lights.
The attraction has three more loops than the previous best, making it the official Guinness World Record holder for most rollercoaster turns.
A statement on the Smiler’s official website said: ‘Not for the faint hearted, the marmalising rollercoaster also features a series of twisted psychological effects including optical illusions, blinding lights and jabbing needles designed to mess with your mind.’
The ride cost Alton Towers £18m and took more than eight months to construct.
Bosses had kept the attraction a secret until the recent reveal.
The Smiler is the size of ten football pitches in terms of track and dominates the resort’s X-Sector area.
