Alton Towers' new roller-coaster, billed as the first of its kind in the world, will preview today, ahead of its opening on May 23.

How weird! It makes no sense as to why they would put this up :/

I would assume it's error more than anything. Possibly a post that was scheduled for the 23rd but posted accidentally today. Either way, it's incorrect!

The way they've worded it seems so specific though:

It's just weird that, if it was meant for the 23rd, why would they specify that date in this sentence after saying it will preview today? I'm not saying it will and they're right, they're not, just seems the error is really specific is all

ITV Midlands news said this morning that they will be previewing the smiler in tonight news. Maybe they mean it will be preview on today news, as the press preview was a few days ago.

It will be on Central Tonight later - presumably with a news report and an interview with Wardley... the usual pre-launch ride report stuff.

No idea. ITV Central have uploaded a (mirrored) POV so they are definitely the ones doing the filming. Of course ITV may use it nationally at some point though.

I think it will launch either on a high profile show such as Corrie, or more to the target market Britain's got Talent on Saturday night.

There will be a preview of The Smiler tonight on Blue Peter. 5:30pm on the CBBC Channel.

I always find the Blue Peter previews a little iconic, if I'm honest, so I'll be sure to watch. Disappointed that there hasn't been a TV advert yet, though. I'd also like to see some more marketing on bus stops etc.

I think that considering this is the biggest investment since Nemesis, the marketing (so far) has hardly reflected this. There should be nationwide acknowledgement of the coaster and so far I'm not seeing that at all.

I'm sure that we will see the TV advert very soon. I wouldn't be surprised if it is aired sometime over the weekend, Saturday night for example. If not next weekend would surely be a certainty.

I don't think you can really blame the Marketing team, it's clear that they spent the majority of their budget in the lead up to the proposed March opening.

It hasn't appeared on iPlayer just yet. However I am sure the same thing happened a few months back when a similar section was aired on the show and we couldn't find it..
