The allegations that have come to light is something no one should have to go though. The strength it must take for people that have been though it to speak out must be enormous.
Aspecial know they will get negative and rude/abusive replies from some.

This can only be good for the enthusiast community in the long run. As it sends out a message saying it is not accepted by the community at large.

The investigation will get to the truth. Sort out innocent from the guilty and serve justice on them.

I have been in a position in work where i been involved in situations where it gone to police investigation and know the alleged attacker has used loopholes to get out of punishment for their crimes.

So this is why my post is vague. As i want a fair trial (if it gets that far) and the correct outcome.

Everything seems to be going off without a hitch for them so far; all of the Facebook comments on their Alton posts today seem very positive.

I don't know that I've seen anyone actually doubting the claims here, which is quite refreshing. In fact the closest I've seen anyone come to writing something which could be misconstrued as doubting the claims would be me, so just in case and for absolutely clarity...

I have no reason to doubt the validity of the claims.

I have no reason to presume the guilt of the accused.

That should be the approach of any investigative mind. Unfortunately trial by social media does not lend itself to impartiality, which is why it is not the place for this to be played out.

If you've been the victim of any of the things discussed in this thread, for the love of all things holy please report it to the police rather than tweeting about it. I can tell you with absolute certainty that allegations are taken seriously, there's lots of support, there's lots of investigating that can be done to prove the offence and if there is sufficient evidence there will be a prosecution which will properly hold perpetrators to account.

The use of social media in the way it has been can utterly destroy cases, can ultimately prevent prosecutions and can allow offenders to keep on offending. This will blow over on the social medias and as part of TPWW or under another guise, if it is not supported by successful prosecution, any perpetrators will be free to keep on offending unchecked. Someone with the disturbed and manipulative mind which leads to them preying on the vulnerable like this won't just go away, it will need need diversionary tactics that only a court can enforce.

The cogs of justice turn a lot slower than the instant hit of short term satisfaction a Twitter 'trial' can give, but the results of a real prosecution are what will actually make a difference and protect others in the long run.

With the greatest respect Matt I'd say the lionshare of his followers are probably too young to even grasp the severity of the situation. They just like theme parks.

This is going to get a lot worse for him before he has any chance to make it better. It does seem he was hiding comments and silencing people which has done him no good whatsoever. Not sure how he will explain that. Maybe at first he thought it wasn't true and attempted sabotage but I think it's probably dawned on him now that's probably not the case with the amount who have come forward.
 
I must admit, some of the comments have taken a turn for the worse as the day’s gone on, even though the majority are still overwhelmingly positive.

At the end of the day he clearly doesn't hang about with very nice people it would seem. Maybe he's incredibly naive to it all and didn't take anything seriously. I bet he does now though.

There are people saying on twitter though that there's been accusations made before which he was aware of and he's even on film calling one of the accused 'Creepy' and they both laugh at it. That's clearly not a coincidence surely? I can't say if that's the truth or not but again doesn't look good does it.

Very much doubt any of them will appear again anyway. He's got a lot riding on this as I imagine it's quite lucrative for him now this channel.
 
I think it is safe to say. Whatever happens. The man with the most allegations against him. Will never be appearing in TPWW again. To many people have now come forward.

That would be suicide for TPWW, if the seeds have not been sown already.

There is a chance no prosecutions will be brought against him. That should not be confused with him being not guilty however. More so there wasnt enough evidence to prosecute. This is important. As I think with the amount of people who have come forward he is not innocent by any stretch. It is way to coincidental for that. In my opinion. But there is a distinction between being guilty and prosecuted and being guilty without enough evidence for prosecution.

On a side note. The person in question. His recently uploaded cover photo on a certain social media, is now what I would call bad taste and inappropriate. Given his clothing, position and the main age of his target audience. I would have a called it a bad taste photo anyway even before the allegations. Even more now so these allegations have come to light. It infact, honestly reminds me of the photo of Ricky Gervais playing David Brent in the mockumentary the Office. Where he is sat in the same position and he uses the photo in a sexual context.

I dont care for Shawn or his vlog, I have always found it painfully embarrassing to watch.

It is fair enough that he cant comment on allegations of sexual assault, but it is worrying that he is not addressing the alleged screenshots of racist conversations. I find this to be completely unacceptable and to me his silence on this speaks volumes. I will be sure to avoid his cringefest content at all costs.
 
I do have to wonder why so many people are saying that the majority of his viewers are teenagers? Where is the evidence for that I wonder. You read a lot of comments on facebook, instagram, youtube, the profiles are not for teenagers. You see on some videos (not all) people who recognise him, but it's mostly people playing up to a camera, of all ages.

I wouldn't even say his channel is aimed at young people, if young people watch it so be it. Just because he set out to make it family friendly (and from comments again, I can see people watch together as families), doesn't mean it's there just for young people.

I'm sorry but some of these comments are now starting to sound like the intent has been there to reel young people to them like a fish.

If this is the one I think you mean...... why was it bad taste before any of this happened? It was posted a week ago, his account his filled with the usual instragram crap - like females post - no one questions the age or sex of their followers now do they and their images are a lot more sexual than that. How do you know his followers are all younger? Anyway, was he naked? Was he asking people to send him photos of them in similar positions? Or worse?

This is what I'm really starting to be bothered by. If there is wrong doing, then it should be punished. But all these after-the-fact comments and knowing winks..... it's just not helping.

I also take exception to the whole "oh, he's just after the youtube money" blah, blah, blah. Because he really wants to buy that third car doesn't he?

Yes, I'd really like to spend most of my free time when I'm not at a park, sitting and editing hours of footage together or planning my next trip. Does anyone here actually read his social media pages often, he is always being asked when the next video is up, when are you doing another quiz Shawn? When are you next going to AT Shawn?

He makes money, which pays for trips, and he needs to make trips to make money, to pay for trips......

Also (and I can't believe I am having to write this) he is a theme park vlogger.... ain't been much theme parking lately. If anyone watched his stuff from March, he promised he would put one video a day up. Most of the time that video is a POV he's not shown previously. He's been trying to add something new a few times a week, why does that make him a slave to youtube? Trying to preserve his channel during the middle of a pandemic, why is that a bad thing?

So for him to stay at home on the biggest day of the season in 2020?

How the hell would he explain that to the people on his channel who don't know what's been going on? How could he say that he's been caught up in a sexual harassment claim by association so, nah I'm staying home.

Would you help him deal with the comments from the "fans" who point the finger and say "guilty" because he's not gone out?

To be perfectly honest with everyone here, I've been waiting for this trip to AT since he announced it. I hold my hands up, I'm one of the people who is eagerly awaiting a TPWW video because I want to know what's happening there and how safe it is (from COVID-19, not the obvious pervs in the parks.... which I noticed no one has been talking about since someone mentioned it a few posts back).

I'm happy to say there are things here which need addressing by TPWW..... but I'm sure when that would be appropriate or how it should be done. We don't know the details of any investigation and what he is or isn't allowed to say.

I'm also happy to support Shawn in as much as he can keeping his channel and social media pages clean. If he can't comment on things, then people should not be allowed to post on his accounts naming people, making accusations. He would be foolish not to remove those comments due to what is clearly serious allegations.

Removing those comments is not necessarily a sign of guilt, or complicity or "sweeping under the carpet". Did he perhaps panic? I'd say yes, I would too. But I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt it's to due with what is happening with the police.

And I said it on my previous post...... there are some people here loving this. You only need to read some of the comments on here, and I can imagine the popcorn maker is working at full throttle.

If it turns out, apart from the fact you don't like him or his channel, but he's done nothing wrong, how will you all cope?

What form did it take (text, public tweet etc)?
How did it get on the internet?
What did it say?
Is it racist or are we just saying it's racist?

Is it something he should say sorry to fans of a theme park channel who should never know about this anyway, or more likely apologise to his parents who no doubt brought him up better?

I stand by what I said previously, if everyone in the world, whether public figure or not had to be seen to beg forgiveness for a racist, sexist, homophobic, offensive comment made I presume in privtae, then I think there would be a lot of mea culpa's going around. It doesn't excuse if it was racist and if he said it but I have to question the idea that it's something we the public need an apology for.

Will be interesting to see if you get a true to life video (lots of rides closed without notice/downtime/lack of food & drink) or if you get the approved 'best day eva' marketing department spin version.

I generally thought the people on here where more balanced than those on social media channels, but I'm starting to see new faces on this thread and now I'm wondering if I got this place all wrong. I've just been reading a comment from someone on social media, who doesn't know TPWW, has never posted about them before, but heard what was going on and his now smearing all sorts of hate because he wants to "support the victims".

That's not supporting anyone, that's bullying someone who in the eyes of the law has done nothing wrong.

And I think that's my main issue with all of this - there is so much unproven, so many things which are hearsay, things that we don't even know where said..... yet, it's all out there now and a lot of people are just using it to bring TPWW down.

And to be honest, when this sort of thing gets on the internet, even when it's proven (which may happen) to be false.... there will always be people who won't believe that.

There are so many lives that have been ruined by throwaway comments on the internet and unfounded rumours. How is this 2020 and we've learned nothing?

I did mine.
It isnt difficult, I'm an old git who isnt into social media, but two minutes of research found the posts in question.
I suspect that the individual posted a racist comment in private, that somebody in that group has posted publicly.
That doesnt make the post any less racist.
But there is certainly "foundation".
New "faces" appear on here all the time, it should be encouraged, it keeps things fresh, even if other poster doesnt have the same opinion.
 
Thanks for the helpful info. Couldn't find anything about it myself, so maybe it's just me being thick. That's why I'm trying not to say too much about it because I don't have all the facts.

Nor does anyone.

My issue here is not what he said (because as I said, I can't judge that) but whether he needs to be put in the stocks for it.

I question that.

I don't care about people having differing opinions, that what we need, just those (like on all social media platforms) who are relishing in this.


@ RicketyCricket - Thanks for your post. Yes, I have read twitter posts. As I said, I am not denying the allegations are serious and that if everything is true then those involved need to be punished. I just think the social media jury, the obvious groups who have never liked TPWW, the people who are potentially ruining the alleged victims chances in court by spreading things around..... this is not the correct way to do these things.

Aside from the allegations which are being handled by the police..... everything else surely falls into the category of hearsay/rumour? And I don't know if that is something we should be comfortable with discussing as it is fact that these sort of unfounded snippets can cause a lot of harm.
