Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Re: Thorpe Park

It is a shame that Samurai is now out of action until next year, considering it is my favourite flat ride at Thorpe alongside Rush. I have a feeling that Thorpe is really going to struggle with queues for Fright Nights with another flat ride, that is popular with the GP, out of action.

I do have my doubts about Slammer being re-opened this season.... ::)

I'm thinking they will need a picture of Samurai, with slightly altered text... lol

We're sorry, but Samurai is out of action. It will reopen March 2013...

As it seems Chessington & Thorpe don't want the "Disapointment Scroller" permanently on the website, unless there is relevant information to be passed on.

Re: Thorpe Park

I too am concerned about queues at Thorpe Park, which are going to be somewhat longer because there's a fair bit less capacity per hour than say, 12 months ago?

Canada Creek Railway
Saw: Alive (will open for FN)
Samurai (technical)
Slammer (technical)
Time Voyagers

That's a fair bit of capacity, added up :(

Re: Thorpe Park

To be fair, Canada Creek Railway isn't very popular and is pretty much walk-on all the time. And Slammer/Time Voyagers will probably have been accounted for months ago. It's only Samurai which is a problem. ???

I'm not saying that any of the closed attrations are any good, particularly. But they're closed - and they weren't shut last year. That said, there is Swarm which makes up for part of the cut in capacity.

:)

Re: Thorpe Park

Is that including the park's ability to sell Fastrack for Swarm rather than the other closed rides?

Closing rides no matter how popular they are is a problem, especially when said rides at Thorpe allowed guests to chill and relax for a bit, something I find impossible to do at Thorpe these days...

Re: Thorpe Park

I was on park yesterday and overall I had a good day, park was fairly busy but not packed and I didnt really see any fastrack users all day. Did pretty much everything and some re rides too.

Samuri was very much in bits by the end of the day with only the back support left up. By the looks of it the whole thing will be gone by the end of the week.

Also I really like the new little bits around the swarm such as the ambulance and phone box (which both have audio!) they also have burn and blackened quite a bit around the area too.

Slammer should be open by fright nights :)

Not sure about Time Voyagers, maybe they will use it for another show, i hope so as it does help get some people out of the already busy queues!

Re: Thorpe Park

Nothing official, just a hive of activity around the ride lately, the park have always maintained the ride will reopen this year (eventually!) and looks like were getting quite close now :)

Re: Thorpe Park

Yeah, I also have to be a little sceptical of that... it seems in need of proper repair and I'd be surprised if they didn't utilize closed season to do that. ???

Re: Thorpe Park

Forgot to add it also has a new sign outside the entrance, the same as Samurais saying its closed for "Refurbishment", although unlike Samurai's one it does not say it will be back for 2013 so i think at the moment they are confident it will reopen.

Also looks like the ride signage has re-appeared in the area (not up yet!)

Re: Thorpe Park

All pass holders will now have to either register there visit for free OR pay the £5 event fee. (Standard Pass Holders)

So, all Premium pass holders have register there visit for any of the Fright Night dates...

Looks like there not taking any chances this year?

Thorpe Park

Looks like they're just clamping down to get more money. Are they restricting to one Fright Night only?

Re: Thorpe Park

No, it's still first come first served for each night, they won't have any capacity issues other than possibly in the half term week...

You only pay £5 if you hold a Thorpe park pass or Standard Merlin Pass, Premium holders need to register for free for all dates.

Where as last year you could just waltz in on certain nights with a Premium pass...

Thorpe Park

Cool thanks. I would like to go but always scared about busyness. It is some gamble at 200+ miles away with a very thirsty car.

Re: Thorpe Park

The earlier into the event you go the better

The first Sunday was dead last year... Curse and Se7en close to walk on...

Re: Thorpe Park

Thanks for sharing that info Dean! Got on and booked the days I can hopefully attend :)
