Heavily rumoured? Can I see your source please? There's no substance behind this other than wishful thinking and the bridge in that PowerPoint slide that looks like a series of hills.

I say heavily rumoured because Attraction Images posted a tweet that said that they had a "reliable inside source" who told them that Thorpe have ordered a B&M hyper as their next high CAPEX. There is a TTSP Forum post that proves this. Let me just find it quickly...

Ooooh, I hadn't seen that Matt so cheers for digging it out. I'd love to see a hyper at Thorpe but I'm also cynical. That tweet is great if true but it's a twitter account with 2000 followers relaying friend of a friend type info. I want to be proved wrong so much though.

You're very welcome for the tweet! As you can probably tell by the fact that Mako at SeaWorld Orlando is my present top coaster, I also really want a B&M hyper at Thorpe! Failing that, the country's first RMC would be nice, as I'd like to experience one soon! I also wouldn't be averse to another GCI, as Wicker Man is awesome!

Basically, I'm happy with anything as long as it's a coaster! Swarm will be 8 years old by 2020, so they will need a new one by then!

As much as this would be great, is there space and reason for one? with 2 more suitable parks for such a ride just down the road (Put it at Chessington please, vampire is really in need of some support from a new ride)
Although a 1.2m lapbar ride would be interesting as to how they'd market it to their clientele along with making it thrilling enough to work at thorpe
 
I'm going to Thorpe park for the first time Friday, guessing it will be busy. Any tips and which rides should I definitely try to get on?

I'd definitely try and get all of the major coasters done if I were you. Maybe Tidal Wave and some of the flat rides too? Depends what your priorities are in a theme park, though.

Get there before it opens as the queue to get in can be a bit chaotic.

Get Saw done early on on as the queue moves very slow, then get around all the coasters as soon as possible.

Colossus is rough but brilliant on the front row so try and get that done. Try getting front and back on Stealth as both are increidble but in diffefent ways. The flat rides are pretty good too - Rush, Detonator, Samurai in particular. Vortex and Quantum are decent too.

Have a go on Slammer and Loggers Lea ... Oh wait:(
 
People need to appreciate that when people pay a pittance to get in, the product will have to suffer as a consequence.

I've heard that Colossus has been riding very smoothly as of late... is this true, if anyone has visited Thorpe and ridden it recently?

I think there could be some 'clever' marketing here:
  1. Get people into the park cheap
  2. Experience is poor due to bad operations, big queues, excessive numbers of Fastrack users and overcapacity
  3. People think "Well it didn't cost me much to get in so I'll buy Fastrack"
  4. Go to step 2
So perhaps the intention is to make that money back from secondary spending.

I think the same could be said at Alton Towers, and going by all the positive reviews on Trip advisor (for Alton Towers), this seems to be the case. Great for one off trips if you are getting into the parks with either free tickets or promotional offers, fast tracks are affordable due to money that you have saved on getting it. Not great for us pass holders that are regular visitors, the whole point of a MAP is to save money, making repeat visits more affordable. Unfortunately, I don't have an endless pot of money to purchase fast tracks with each visit.
 
Yeah it's as smooth as Swarm now, anybody who tells you different hasn't ridden it this year. The only issue I found was the cobra rolls are still a bit violent if you're not ready for them, which results in a headache thanks to the awful OTSR.
