Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Now Saw's a weird one, because I don't think the first bit is quite as rough as Colossus (bar potentially the drop), whereas the post-MCBR is one of the roughest sections of any coaster I've ever been on; both times I've ridden Saw, I've come off with a headache. Maybe I'm riding it wrong?I still think Colossus is positively smooth in comparison to Saw: "we give you a free vasectomy on the way round" The Ride.

Can I be extremely stupid and ask what the MCBR is? Sorry.
not a stupid question at all! Mid course break run

If you hear "OTSR", which you will as Saw has painful ones, it stands for "over the shoulder restraint".

What do we think the odds of Thorpe following portaventura and delaying the park opening?

It will all depend on what measures the government introduce in the coming days/weeks.
I suspect large gatherings will be stopped as they have been in other countries. When this happens the parks will have no choice but to close.

The world:
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.
Meanwhile at Thorpe Park:
All mass gatherings will likely be suspended next week anyway, so it’s doubtful this will go ahead.
Putting to one side the rights and wrongs of pressing ahead with events like this - even if they’re likely to be cancelled - be in no doubt that all attractions in the UK face a prolonged closure, possibly for months. It will hit the independent operators hardest, but the likes of Merlin will be badly affected too - and will give them, probably for the first time in a long time, a legitimate reason to abort planned investment for next year and perhaps beyond.
This is just the start, kids. Buckle up.

Looks like we wont be getting that RMC next year or 2022 if parks close, But like you said about independent parks im worried for the likes of paultons park if the worse does happen. the new area is schedualed to open in May?

At the moment it appears that 'mass gatherings' are defined as organised events... Sporting fixtures etc. This isnt due to the spread of the virus, but more to do with public resources being stretched such as police and ambualance staff who have to be in attendance.
Therefore, in the short term it wont impact Parks however I think it will eventually. If any person with symptoms have to self isolate for 7 days then I can imagine staffing will become an issue.

The guy who did this video suggested a B&M Floorless to replace Colossus. I think that would be a great fit, and a first for the UK! Good video in general too.
