Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Island are Checking bags (poorly like normal) and using wands on guests, but it (at least in the disabled queue) is handled extremely well in the not causing too much stress way.

Also multiple ride teams are now walking queues asking individual groups to distance, nearly all merlin staff have the merlin branded masks so they seem to be stepping it up a notch.

They have the extension queue in use, they do appear to be gearing up for keeping these checks longer term.

A quick look on Twitter also shows plenty of guests who are waiting hours to just enter the park. Ride close is still sticking at 5pm too despite it being summer holidays with longer queues etc.

That last tweet wasn't the case earlier on, they had multiple searches

I attempted to visit around this time last year, took one look at the security queue and went to Windsor instead. It's always been a bit of an issue but obviously it's gonna be worse at the moment.

I wouldn’t expect Merlin to extend the season, they are a worldwide business where money is still coming in elsewhere but BPB aren’t and rely on any money they can get.

No such plans at Thorpe by the looks of this.

From the photos on this account, it looks like Thorpe may have finally expanded security capacity, and adjusted the flow to prevent the bottlenecks in the two huts.

I visited the park on Thursday, and the only ride where social distancing was being enforced was Quantum (one row being batched/let off at a time) by a very enthusiastic ride op!

Other than that it was a complete free for all and no different to a normal day.
