You could buy a kit for your own telly, fit it on the power cable, or rent one free and pay via the slot.
Over time...started at 5p for 4 hours, often ended up at 50p per four hours.
Many people paid for their first colour telly that way.

I don't think anything has been said, I'm pretty sure 2 is the minimum number (see my profile picture-me+staff member only ones on it), but how they would handle the internal queue and odd numbered groups is potencially problematic.

I'm guessing the even sized group requirement is the biggest sticking point for this one. They'd basically be creating guest services complaints from odd numbered groups, whilst additionally highlighting the slight oddity that the ride car isn't signed off for a single person per row.

Now that gets really tricky having a dummy and guest in the same row, I'm guessing they technically could but it's not worth the effort it would take to get approval/certification hence it not having been done.

Yeah you can't have a dummy and guest in the same row as it would block the guest from getting in/out one side, not to mention be a safety hazard.

They could have staff riding with odd numbers, as they have in the past, a too expensive resolution to getting a crap ride running though I imagine.

True. It's the only option for single riders though, so until that's allowed it won't be happening.

I struggle to believe there's not a simple modification available to fix the necessity for the dumb restriction.

It's not a weight issue but odd numbered groups issue, apparently they consider the restraints not good enough to hold a.single rider

I thought it was widely known X / Walking Dead has to have two per row due to how the restraints don’t lock in position, meaning if you were on your own you could push the empty restraint down all the way and slide yourself out and stand up.

Merlin’s policy probably doesn’t allow guests to ride directly next to water dummies either.

They could well be doing that right now.

When did the trains last get replaced?

I believe they replaced the restraints around 2013 to be able to change the height restriction from 1.4m to 1m.

The irony is of course they upped the limit to 1.4m again in 2018 for the Walking Dead. So the original restraints would be working just fine now, single ride rows would be ok.
