Yeah I do agree that it can make people more eager to ask questions and want to know information. It is a bit daft though tbh. If you have a secret, you don't go on a forum and say "I know but it's a secret"... you'd just, you know, keep it to yourself?
I was only joking, I'm not arsed.Do you really think that's fair to the people who are working their socks off behind the scenes to make the new attraction a reality whilst trying their hardest to keep it under wraps? Have some respect please.
Apologies for saying anything.
I thought letting you all know I'm excited about what Thorpe might be planning was information enough.
Hopefully somone from Merlin will see these posts and raise the issue with Thorpe, as I know the circumstances of the "leak" and it is very concerning.Someone probably said they were excited about what ended up being DBGT though.
It's a safe bet to presume Thorpe (or other parks) are planning something. But what we don't really need is people going "I know what it is but i can't tell you" for Internet points.
Its bad enough dealing with ITKs with football atm. Don't need it in my other hobbies too.
I can assure you that this leak was genuine information, but that's all I'm saying.I get memories of the Alton Towers Broomsticks coaster all over again. Maybe the leaks are careful created misinformation that's "accidentally" released from the park (or even other people unconnected with the park) just to mess about with people?
If this project does open in 2024, as is currently strongly rumoured, then discussing rumours & leaks about it in 2021 would be equivalent to discussing rumours about SW8/Wicker Man in 2015. In 2015, Wicker Man was absolutely “nailed on” to be an RMC by those in the know, and there were even people claiming to have seen the plans who came onto the forums posting very detailed statistics and all. Look what happened there; the woodie that eventually materialised ended up being a GCI, and was nothing like the 2015 rumours dictated.
While I’m certainly not debating that Wicker Man may have been intended to be an RMC at some stage in the project’s development, my point is that things change with big projects like this, sometimes pretty late on in development. What was relevant at one time may not be relevant at another, and something that is relevant now in 2021 may not ultimately match the final product.
I’m not saying that it wasn't planned to be an RMC at one stage or another, as I can imagine it certainly might have been. My point was more that what’s rumoured or leaked now may not ultimately reflect the final product for whatever reason. I could reel off numerous other examples of where projects are rumoured to be certain things at this stage in development or even a fair bit later, but ultimately end up being completely different.I think the Forbidden Valley plans were for an RMC though, plans changed after the smiler accident and they went for a more family friendly option instead. That's my understanding of it anyway, no insider information, just going by the fact that the public screening option was submitted for a forbidden valley ride made of timber truss which was withdrawn soon after the accident.
We should know soon enough about Thorpe's new ride though. If it is opening in 2024 then we should see a planning application pretty soon. Or am I right in remembering they arranged it so they don't need to apply for planning permission under a certain height?
The only thing I'm going to say is it was someone quite senior. You'd expect people at that level to know better and uphold standards. Is it a possibility that the different people making these leaks might have different levels of connection to the project?
So while I’m by no means saying it’s a carefully orchestrated hoax to lead enthusiasts off the scent or whatever, as I’m sure these sources are trustworthy and giving the information that they themselves know, what one person knew at one stage may just be an idea or proposal that the creatives at Merlin made that ultimately wasn’t pursued, or was modified at some stage in the development process.
I’m not doubting the credibility of anyone’s sources by any means, but stuff gets cancelled or revised all the time in theme parks; at this stage, where a project is presumably a good couple of years away (while we obviously don’t know for certain, 2024 is getting thrown around a fair bit by those in the know), it’s very common. So maybe what one person knows might possibly be out of date information? It’s highly possible that a project might change a bit late on in development for whatever reason, so what one person knew at one time, especially this early on in a project’s development, may not necessarily be relevant information once the final product takes shape.

This is literally no better than "I know what coaster is coming but I can't tell you"...The only thing I'm going to say is it was someone quite senior. You'd expect people at that level to know better and uphold standards.
That isn't what I said nor what I was implying. I'm literally just saying that it was a credible source, nothing else. This is literally no better than "I know what coaster is coming but I can't tell you"...

LolSkyscraper, you’ll be pleased to know the leak has been reported and raised with Thorpe, investigated at length and was traced back to a tap in the male toilets adjacent to Megastore.
I think everyone is hopeful that the dripping will stop now.
