Towers Loving Care

I went to say the post above is harsh even by my standards.

But then I remembered the horrific scaffolding & thought better of it.

Managers manage , they don't work. That's what workers are for. /s (direct quote from a manager in a previous job)

I'd like to believe that TLC will mean the park becomes great again, but I can't shake the niggling feeling that things are going to be done in way to bring them to standard, but no more.

There are a number of TLC programmes happening right now.

I just wish ATR would release some photos of the work they are doing right around the park...

As we said last time we met for a drink, Towers need to get over their "keeping everything secret" thing and move in to the 21st century. These days, people expect to see a string of updates for everything. It's free publicity, and lets people know that they aren't just sitting on their arses doing nothing.

It's good PR, considering they're run by marketing you'd think they'd know this.

Last time I checked PR wasn't about keeping everything positive you're doing (that isn't some super secret new absolute amazing world first etc ad infinitum) a secret.

Unless they're using word's first Tartan Paint or summat?

Surely at a time where the park has hit an all time low (due to the crash), now is the best time to show things like this.

Alton Towers has a huge social media following, show the care and attention the park is getting!

There is clearly an issue around informing guests that several rides are unavailable for 2016. They need to do that whilst also demonstrate park improvement.

They did say they would post details of ride closures in January, but it seems that hasn't happened! Maybe tomorrow I guess with it being a Monday and management will be back in the offices.

That's the sort of thing only bad managers say.

Yes, the staffing levels should be good enough that managers can just tell staff what to do and manage them, but all mangers should also know how to do their staff's job and be able to muck in when needed.

Toilet disuccsion often materialises during the closed season, and for that reason I have moved discussion relating to toilets that was posted here to The Toilet Topic!

:)

It wasn't even on purpose :tearsofjoy:

It just creeps up on ya... one moment, talking about painting nemesis, perhaps the requirement for more gardeners, maybe even edging towards.... FENCES... and then... BAM.

THE TOILETS ARE COLD!!!!

PEOPLE CAN SEE YA REFLECTIONS!!

OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BRING US WARM WATER!!!!

Kinda like the Godwin's law of TST, how long can a discussion last in closed season before moving to ablutions.

Secrecy actually works tremendously well for creating buzz and hype, but I agree that for things like maintenance and little touches or improvements the park need to remove some heads from bum holes and actually just tell people wtf is going on.

Not sure if this has already been reported, but Hex is now confirmed to be closed for the 2016 season on the website.

For me this has now been removed. Maybe an announcement is approaching and they accidentally published the Hex page before the reveal of the attraction line-up? Or maybe it's my BT internet.

Well we know Ripsaw is gone, The Flume will be demolished as it's knackered, Sub-Terra I'd be surprised to see open again, Charlie's IP has run out so they'll leave that empty till it's replaced, Driving School is a weird one, don't know what they'll do with that, and Hex... I'm not sure about Hex. Certainly enthusiasts love it, do the public? It's good at soaking crowds and it does seem to get a good amount of guests going on it.

I think if any of the closed rides has a chance of opening again it will be Hex. The rest can easily never see the light of day again. Marketing will have fun trying to explain that in 2017 after the TLC excuse.

"we gave it everything, we really did, including incantations, the summoning of the great spirit that guides the prophet Wardley, but alas we couldn't get it to park - we even tried charging it 6 quid".

it must have been unintentional, as it wasn't on the website when i checked.
