Towers Loving Care

I've seen some of the TLC with my very own eyes today. Some of it looks very nice and inside the Sealife is themed nicely.

I wasn't impressed with some of the painting skills. Nemesis paint was already beginning to flake off. More water blasters have been added to the rapids just before the waterfall section, I presume these were the Flumes old ones.

Well it seems that the nemesis track has it's rust effects all on it now but the supports still need work.

Nice to see the TLC improvements but there's still a lot to do!

I'm actually not keen on the entire of Katanga having the previous years' tracks on rotation. I think certain areas should have different versions of the theme playing to reflect their surroundings. The transition area from Mutiny to Katanga should have the 2006 theme, the area by the rapids and the plaza should have the latest version and then the RMT area should have the original music. Plus, please make the 2016 closed season the one where you sort out Katanga's jeep etc.

Nemesis was looking grand and the Dark Forest looked better and with the addition of vines on the fence, that will help but my goodness does that whole area need ripping down and starting again. You can't polish a turd but you can roll it in glitter I suppose...

Nice to hear the new TS music, I think it really suites the street, it's very epic and the Spinball Whizzer theme is great too.

I'm a little sad about the TS shop - I feel every year they take more of the quirkiness out of it. This year, the screens have been taken out and the shuffle around of the store makes it just seem like a bog standard and crowded shop. I miss the themed "zones", the RMT pick and mix, the unique sound effects for the different tills.

Also, the mixing of the new TS shop music medley is a bit jarring. Whilst I applaud the team for not using any standard chart music within the park, the transitions between some of the ride themes are bit bad - especially the transition to Galactica theme. Just having the full themes playing continuously one after another would be better.

I really hope when they do the entire street that we'll get the fun, quirkiness and sense of escape to this whimsical fantasy world connoted through the theme, style and mood of the street. Would love those frogs sorted too!

Whilst it's also nice to hear the Fireworks finale music, I'm missing the pre-show music and think it would be great to hear in the park. Think it would work in fountain square, skyride or main box office.

I totally agree with this! They seem to have put a lot of effort in to music around the park this year and I have no doubts that things will change further and be refined as the season goes on. I would love to see the three different Katanga themes playing in different locations as you say as part of the refinement.

:)

Towers Loving Care latest update: 65 new park benches.

Perfect way to soak up the crowds. New for 2016 - the Ultimate seat experience.

TBF to them whilst I'm usually powerhousing through as many rides as possible on my day there, for those that dont like the rides I can't really think of many places other than paid stuff like bars/food outlets (granted many will be closed this year which may have been why these were ordered) or on rocks where there is to sit to this is a welcome change for those that aren't so energetic.

They're obvs not the nicest looking benches but it's something they've spent money on as a small improvement to people's day with virtually no marking clout to it so it's a change from the usual, a welcome change in my book.

Well you have to have somewhere to eat your packed lunch as the queue at the open food outlets are longer than the queues for the rides :D

The park has been in desperate need of more seating areas so this is great to see!
I was gonna say they need more seating next to Rita for the food outlets there, as I rarely ever get to sit down but from what I remember that's one of the many food outlets closed this year... Maybe I can sit down and pretend to eat chips there on my next visit.

could always go and buy some chocolate and nibbles from the rita shop....

Makes sense to put in 65 benches. After all, rumour has it that SW8 is actually a clone of Schlittenfahrt Schneefloeckchen and they can be reused ;)

In all seriousness, this is good to see. :)

Nemesis is clearly unfinished - the track in the tunnel after the loop and on the first left hander are yet to be themed, as are most of the supports. Nitrogenie needs to be muted by TLC please. The spinning bumper at the bottom of the rapids lift is still dead and the Land Rover is in a worse state than my heap :p The Smiler needs the most TLC, lacking working audio, screens and theming.

Don't forget though that they are closed midweek early in the season so I suspect that the remaining work will be carried out before full-time opening hours. :)
