TST Scarefest Meet: 20-21 October 2012

I forgot...

Highlights

Gallivantrix: The Gallivanting Coaster!
Canterix: The Cantering Coaster!

and

Trotterix: The Trotting Coaster!

Had a fantastic day on Saturday - was great to see everyone again!

A few high/lowlights from me:

Highs (in no particular order):

- Seeing everyone again after what feels like too long!
- Everyone having rave reviews of the mazes
- Seeing the progress on the SW7 site
- Remembering how much I enjoy Th13teen as a ride
- Spinball really spinning well both times I was riding it
- The hotels looking in great condition with some really nice Scarefest touches
- All the wonderful costumes :D
- ....and seeing how much other visitors really rated them too!
- Heave Ho costumed ride!
- Tavern sosche with those not wanting to do lots of riding in costume
- Fried Chicken Co being NOM! (first time I've been!)
- Having a really good evening sosche in Ma's

Lows:

- General park ambience after dark ruined by the floods
- The complete farce which is the pre-booked ticket queue!
- Low ridecount (although expected to a certain extent at Scarefest)
- Not doing the Sunday
- Not getting to say goodbye properly to most people

Thanks to:

Gazag for booking the room, beer and lifts to/from the park
Gazag & Oli for being fantastic room-mates
....and everyone else for just being there and adding to the experience!

See you all in 2 weeks at Fireworks! :D

Fantastic meet you guys! :D

Highlights:
Being reunited with everyone, and seeing some new faces
The extreme runthrough of the Sanctuary on Saturday - with Pete's 'don't touch the actors, but the actors MIGHT touch you'
Better run throughs in Carnival
Being on first name terms with a vampire in TotT
Using my Freedom Pass as much as possible :p
Doing some night rides
Being chased out of the finale of the Sanctuary on the last run through on Sunday evening
Everyone in costume on Saturday evening - and the medical team being in 'character' for most of the evening ;)
Heave Ho! ride in costume 'tradition' - from what I've been told
Quiet evening sosche in Sazzle, Russell and Rob's Vane room on Sat night even though we were all knackered
TST take over on Sub-Terra on Sat evening

Lowlights:
Park wide theming being below average
Not getting on many rides in the dark
Didn't get to say to goodbye to everyone, especially on Sunday when we all dispersed
Oh, and being hover handed by Joelio :p

But overall it was a awesome meet. Looking forward to seeing you guys for Fireworks and possibly last day of Scarefest :)

DOCTOR...

Thanks for such an amazing weekend, all! Spent most of today sleeping and feeling utterly balls, but had so much fun and as usual some BRILLIANT costumes on show!

See you all soon!

:D

Well possibly one of the best Scarefest meets ever (I have decided its impossible for a Scarefest meet not to have extreme faff).

A big thanks to Pete Cliff and Alton Towers for the opportunity to do the extreme run through The Sanctuary, apologies to those who didn't get picked out of the hat but we based on the queue that developed after our run through it was very understandable as to why the numbers had to be limited. Also a big thanks to Pete for staying and chatting after the run through.

Highlights

- No drama, very friendly meet
- sanctuary extreme run through on Saturday
- seeing so many people there
- the best Scarefest mazes ever (The Carnival is the weakest but it beats last year)
- Mr Twirly appearing on the Towers
- My Twisted medical team on the Saturday night.
- Nemmie in the dark
- TowersStreet getting a shout out in the Monorail station
- seeing everyone dressed up.

Lowlights

- Shouting on Sub-Terra (I'm not a fan)
- leaving early on Sunday due to tiredness

A really good weekend suffered on Sunday lets just say through illness

Highlights:
Consuming an entire bottle of Jack on top of several pints, a cocktail or two, and some shots of tequila.

...

Lowlights:
The following morning.

Well after an impromptu visit last weekend it was lovely to see everyone again :D Lots of laughs as always, and nice to see a few older faces reappearing. Shame I couldn't make the second day, but still, duty called :p

Highlights
  • All the costumes. Some great work again guys! I love seeing everyone dressed up and really getting into character *stares at Saz, Russell, Maggie and Lottie* :p
  • "It's the most flamible time, of the year"
  • An unexpected visit from Baron Von Roll :p
  • The hotels looking all pretty! Great work Alton!
  • Air and Nemmy in the dark <3
  • Duel looking decent, and the ride team offering new incentive to play the game. This is a seriously good idea I want to see them continue.
  • Hot drink quenchers. Again, another great idea and hope takes off, and seriously good value! You'd pay over £5 for the thermos mug alone at some places!
  • Woodland Walk - After Dark
  • Mine Train takeover with a whole train of TSTers :D
  • Monorail Station Shoutout!
  • Seeing a lot of new and old faces

Lowlights
  • General park atmosphere. Lighting, etc.
  • Not getting a ride on Th13teen in the dark :(
  • Not getting to say bye to a lot of people :(
  • Not getting a night ride on Rapids

The list will no doubt grow as I remember more!

It was a really good weekend :)

Highlights

* Seeing people again :)
* Mazes are consistently good this year
* Everyone's costumes looked really good
* Our annual ride on Heave-Ho
* Rides in the dark
* "Roland Mack's Runaway Mine Train"
* Woodland Walk in the pitch black
* Hot drink refills
* Craig getting lynched twice in one day on Rapids
* Fantastic run-through of The Sanctuary last-thing Sunday evening

Lowlights

* The typical Scarefest faff and group-splits.
* The mahoosive song-and-dance arranging 'extreme' Sanctuary for just a handful of people
* Sub-Terra shouting was shameful (and it's getting old now, anyway)

AOB

* Thanks to AstroDan for accommodation.
* Thanks to Badgy and Vik for lifts.

I spent a lot of the weekend recording stuff, but I will probably hold off using it until an end of year video. :)

If I send a lovely person who has the programme necessary the original clip to create a looping GIF then perhaps it might happen! Any takers?

I'll also just leave this here too...
