Walibi Holland: General Discussion

Nah this guy has to be paid to be doing it or doing it for charity, but even then he's still insane.

I hope they've got a medical team on hand, 20 hours of head bashing cannot be good for you.
 
I made my second visit to Walibi Holland today. Everything is as I remember it fondly from last year, though I would say I enjoyed Lost Gravity and Goliath more this time round. Oh yeah, and there's the small matter of a whopping great RMC where Robin Hood stood but a few months ago!

My god is Untamed good! The airtime is relentless throughout, as you would expect from this manufacturer, and it flies like a bullet. The theme is bizarre yet strangely works, with what appears to be a crossover between a 15-year old girl's Instagram page and Shoreditch street food market. I've not ridden any other RMCs so can't compare, however it has knocked Helix off my number 1 spot.

It's just so good!!!
 
The reviews of El condor do not do it justice, I had the misfortune to ride it once and that's it, the only thing good about it is the lift hill.

Untamed, however its as good as the reviews, if not better, its buttery smooth with airtime that almost floats you round the track from the first drop to the bit where it goes under the rest of the structure to last ground hugging barrel roll, outstanding.

Another one of note is Express platform 13, ( tucked away up some steps just inside the entrance plaza building by the toilets) which appears to be themed on a train crash, the ride ( with the exception of the launch) is pretty tame however the theming is excellent, all effects working in the queue line/scare maze set up as you navigate through a semi abandoned underground station amongst the wreckage of a crash ( just a shame what follow is just so-so)

The rest of the park is also pretty clean, I didn't spot any peeling paint, no broken effects or screens showing some windows or media playback error message
 
So, erm, yeah. This is not a sight that those visiting Walibi Holland wanted to see:

According to Looopings, forces from Untamed have caused stress on the existing structure and cracks have appeared in some of the supporting beams. The beams in question have been replaced but some more work is needed.

Walibi Holland were hopeful that Untamed would open again today.
 
The word on the street is that it's the 45° outward bank on the first turn. I don't know how true this is but it wouldn't surprise me.
 
It’s an interesting thought. I suppose the question they will be asking themselves is how much work would be needed for a name change to be done effectively and retain the brand recognition. I doubt they’d change to anything other than Netherlands to the sake of keeping it consistent with the other parks in the group, as we saw in 2010 when they dropped “Walibi World” in favour of going back to “Holland” as Six Flags had branded it.

Ultimately the country can rebrand itself but to a lot of people it will still always be recognised as “Holland”.
 
Has anyone taken public transport to the park from Amsterdam?

I hired a car on my last visit and wondering if it's worth doing it again?

I got the train from Amsterdam Central to Harderwijk, and from there is an approx 20-30min shuttle bus to the park entrance.

Also did the same (but did stay in Harderwijk for a couple of nights) It was a bit of a squeeze on the shuttle bus with the local teenagers, but on the plus side we didn’t have to pay!
 
Doesn’t sound too bad from Amsterdam. Do you reckon walibi is a two day park?
