What are you listening to?

This time tomorrow, I reckon it'll be Supremacy. The wait is almost over!

I feel the same way about Muse... But I often listen to death metal... So I guess I can't talk! :p

I certainly hope not. If they're only playing the second song 25 minutes after being due on stage there's a problem. ;)

TONIGHT! How to occupy myself until then...

Muse mega post!

Last night was boss. Mildly screwed over by the setlist but oh well. Sounded good, looked good, the band enjoyed it, was as good as it could have been given being sat at the back. Worst Muse gig I've been to, but still better than any gig that wasn't Muse or Roger Waters. Played a long setlist, the stage was so much better than the towers from the last tour and the visuals, lights and lasers were works of art.

Unsustainable
Jesus, those drums are incredible. Never heard drums like it. And the intro sounded big considering it was played on synth by Morgan and not an orchestra and choir. The drop was so heavy. Wish Matt did the vocals and didn't leave the whammy to his tech.

Supremacy
Those drums again! And now the guitar! The new 7-string is quite the instrument. Best opening duo since Dead Star > Micro Cuts. The vocals were incredible, the fist falsetto was downright inappropriate for before 9PM, I could feel a semi coming on.

Map Of The Problematique
So happy to get this over Hysteria. Guitar sounded amazing and Who Knows Who riff was wild. Matt finally spoke at the end, something about Chelsea football club. Clearly trying to get the crowd on side by thinking everyone supported Manchester United. Clearly thought he was still in London.

Supermassive Black Hole
Same as always, very bass heavy, the bass actually sounded a whole octave lower than normal, which made it more interesting than it would have been. Pyramid came out to play at the start, looked and sounded like a UFO was descending onto the stage.

Panic Station
Oh god, this sounded good. The visuals were hilarious, some dancing purple monster in green speedos who was joined by a green alien playing sax. Such fun.

Resistance
No idea what this was doing in the set. Maybe they confuse 'audience clapping through the song to make it bearable' with 'clapping because they're enjoying it'. It was louder than expected, but still awful.

Animals
Mentioned Russian billionaires at the start (clearly had it in for Chelsea last night). The lead guitar blow ups at the end tore the roof off. Didn't expect them to be so powerful.

Montpelier Jam + Explorers
Monty Jam was nice, but a bit boring. Explorers was so pretty. Didn't enjoy it as much as I might have because I was preoccupied worrying about what they'd play in the rotation slot next.

Falling Down
There was a little blurry green square at the end of the Explorers visuals, which made me think they were about to play Ruled By Secrecy. Then Matt said they were going to do a song from their first album, so I thought "ok, Sunburn is still pretty good" but then he said "one we've we-worked". Probably would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't annoyed we got the most common and least interesting of the three piano songs they've been rotating. Still, should be grateful. If you told me a month ago I'd hear a song that hadn't been played since 2000 I'd have laughed at you.

Host + Time Is Running Out
A Showbiz b-side?! Amazing they pulled this one out. Annoyed that the people in front didn't know it. Also annoyed they stopped playing it just before the really good part, but the transition is cool. TIRO actually sounded pretty good now it was played on a proper guitar and not that limp P90 thing.

Liquid State
Sounded so much better than it does in videos. So much low end! Chris smashed the vocals.

Madness
Sounded pretty good actually, although Chris' mic could have been higher in the mix. Had to laugh at the video glasses.

Follow Me
Christ, the drop made the arena shake. And I don't mean vibrate a bit, I literally mean the foundations shook. As cringey as Matt not playing an instrument is, it sounded good enough to overlook it. Visuals and lasers were breathtaking.

Undisclosed Desires
Nice for the fans at the barrier to shake hands with Matt and shout into the mic, but for everyone else, the worst song of the night by far. Truly awful.

Plug In Baby
Sounded so much better than it did at Reading. The bar wasn't very high but it really surprised me how good it was this time. Crowd around me finally decided at this point to get involved and stand up.

New Born
Unforgivable the fake roulette wheel 'picked' New Born over Stockholm Syndrome. As gorgeous as the new red carbon guitar is and as good as it sounds, New Born is dead. A tragedy to see such a once great song reduced to this. The only good part of this was the Headup riff outro. When it dropped it was one of the heaviest moments of the night, it truly exploded. The pyramid consuming the band was awesome. End of the main set.

Isolated System
In playback until the end when Dom plays the drums inside the pyramid. Better than just leaving the stage empty for five minutes.

Uprising
Guitar sounded better than last tour and the kung-fu visuals while the pyramid was still down were hilarious. The difference between the album and live versions of this song is incredible.

Survival
Not so cheesy and stupid live. Guitar was really heavy at the end, but it's annoying he can be bothered playing the piano at the start of this but not New Born. Cool visuals, too.

Starlight
No idea why this opened the second encore. Hope it's not Muse becoming the sort of band who play their biggest song at the end for the sake of it. But I'm glad it was played, it's underrated. Can't believe I typed that out loud.

Knights Of Cydonia
Why oh why did this have to close? Can I please just go to a Muse gig and not have this close? Survival has closed most gigs so far, and they decide to change on me. It's still highly enjoyable and a fitting way to close, but I'm just bored of it. Chris got taken out by a CO2 cannon at the end.

A great gig. Somewhat annoyed by the setlist, but no complaints about the performance. The band have clearly never been happier, and it really helps, there's such a party atmosphere that there never was before. I even laughed at one point, which I've never done at a Muse gig before but really enjoyed. They're happier and more relaxed, and it's making them play better and be more spontaneous. Outstanding.

Mainly just what Blaze said, it was a great performance with very impressive lighting and stage especially, and just a great experience.

However, I do have to disagree with a couple of things.

Firstly, I felt that Supremacy was fairly lacklustre, and I was extremely disappointed by it, and for Resistance, I enjoyed it actually a lot. It was much better than the album version. I guess both of these were because of you being seated (monumental fail). The crowd took a bit to get going really, and it was only by TiRO (a shame) when there was any movement. Although the crowd for Resistance was good, as were the ones for KoC (obviously) and even the crowd for New Born was pretty good. Headup riff was great.

I felt that the best song was MofP, possibly due to it being one of my favourite songs, but the sound was excellent, and the Who Knows Who riff was great as well. Others that were good were Animals (fantastic crescendo for the whole song), Falling Down (much, much better than I expected, and a great re-make) and Explorers was a big surprise.

The disappointments were UD (which COMPLETELY KILLED the mood- I literally facepalmed), New Born (especially the solo and intros- which were absolutely appalling compared to past performances) and Supremacy.

2 out of 4 for the rotations (MofP and Liquid State), but I was devastated when we didn't get Sunburn. Matt said something like, "here's something from our first album" and then something about a re-make. I was sad about that, but Falling Down was great anyway. Liquid State was the better option over Save Me, although I thought the intro to be too distorted for my liking. A shame to get New Born, I really hoped for the green option. :p

The staging was fantastic, and the pyramid was a great stage. Really great projections on the screens, with my personal favourite being the shattering album cover in Survival.

So basically, it was a great performance, with fantastic visuals and crowd, although a bit dull at first, got a lot better towards the end (although not as mad as I Predict a Riot at Leeds fest- which was completely mental). A few disappointments, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Bring on stadiums next summer.

Muse - Explorers

I think this is one of my three favourite from T2L, the others being Madness and Follow Me. :)

I could see the crowd only get really into it during TIRO. I was really shocked how static most of the crowd was for Unsustainable.

Resistance was a lot better than the album version and better than at Reading and Leeds, but it's still gash. Supremacy really was everything it was cracked up to be and more where I was. Maybe the sound was different or something, but the guitar and drums were incredible and the vocals were the best I've ever heard.

I know someone who got standing tickets shook Bellamy's hand during UD. Bastard.

That's the second time I should have heard Ruled By Secrecy and haven't. Something tells me I never will. Hopefully Take A Bow comes back in the stadiums.

The crowd for Supremacy and Unsustainable was very dead. A shame really, they're good songs. Where were you sat by the way- I've heard the reviews for the people sitting behind the stage, and they're extremely positive.

Second row from the top, on the edge of the corner Chris' side, facing the stage. So couldn't have been further from Bellamy.

I was surprised at how much he spent singing to the back, he really quite liked them. I loved the little spin he did during Supermassive to go from singing to the front to the back without stopping playing or singing to tun the stand around. :p

Did you notice him not playing during the third verse of New Born after the solo? Made it even weaker than usual.

Sorry for asking but are the tickets for the stadium tours cheaper than the tickets for the album tour?

If they are then there is more chance I can go and see them. :p

No. They'll be more expensive by about £10. Talking £60+ if they do Wembley again.

Just watching the Radio 2 gig they did the day before Manchester. Oh my god, Explorers and Falling Down were even better than at Manchester. Especially Explorers. So beautiful.

So not the greatest seats then. I was pretty much right smack bang in the middle of the arena- almost directly under the scoreboards hanging from the ceiling. It was alright, but the crowd was a little dead. However, we were really close to the stage. I've seen bands at the O2 in Leeds and Sheffield (which are around 2000 capacity), but I was almost as close here. It was really quite good.

And Ryan, I would thoroughly recommend the stadium tour. It basically a longer version of the arena tour, with a few less songs from the new album, and around 2 or 3 rare songs (at LCCC in 2010, we got Citizen Erased, Butterflies and Hurricanes and Take a Bow, so they'll be some great songs hopefully). They'll be about 2-4 songs more, with a lot more riffs, and a completely different stage set-up. The tickets will be more expensive, but you get more of a show- so it's worth it. I reckon they'll do two in London (Wembley twice, or possibly one at the Olympic stadium) and one elsewhere. And what ever you do, DON'T GO FOR THE FIRST NIGHT. THE SETLIST WILL BE AWFUL. :p

They normally suffer second night syndrome, but it was actualy the first night at the O2 was better this year. :p

But the Wembley gigs and pretty much every two nighter in America and Australia got much better on the second night.

Compare Wembley one with Wembley two. Butterflies And Hurricanes, NSC and I Belong To You compared to MK ULTRA, Map Of The Problematiqué, Bliss, Citizen Erased and Ruled By Secrecy.

With the arena sets being consistently 21 tracks long so far, expect 24-26 at the stadium gigs if they don't do a Resistance Tour and start playing shorter sets after Asia.

5 quid says the green option from the roulette wheel will be picked in Japan. And it will be an unbelievably good song.

And Bliss and Citizen Erased in the same show is incredible, they're pretty much two of the top five best live songs.

LOL, why not. :p
