Seriously we are complaning about The Flume when we have Battle Galleons. If only Battle Galleons was removed and all the theming moved to The Flume. What a great idea!

Right.. I hadn't been on battle gallstones in years so I forgot what it had.

Ooh... a pirate theme for a log flume... how original

I love the idea of water rides but just don't wanna get wet. I know it's a contradiction. I don't mind a spray. I just don't want a wet bum for the rest of the day.

Water rides just don't work in this country IMO.

I think water rides are good especially rapids. My favourite water related ride is Fuga Da Atlantide which is amazingly themed and gets you a bit wet.

I don't mind Congo and bubbleworks at chessington, but things like battle galleons is just too much

I love the rapids as you don't particularly get wet
I think water rides in general are fun and a good addition to any park...

...UNLESS said water ride resorts to using showers, buckets, water cannons or fountains (with the exception of bubbleworks), in which case said water ride should be avoided. It isn't about getting wet, it's about the POSSIBILITY of getting wet. Something that is obvious if your boat is going under power showers or water cannons.

That's the charm of the rapids, you just don't know what will happen. One ride you'll come off dry as a bone, the next ride you'll come off looking like you've had a swim in the lake.

Battle Galleons is just a straight out oh I'll get soaked ride, which in our weather isn't at all that appealing apart from a handful of days of the year.

BG has some pretty nice theming. The ride is crap but then I've never been a fan of Splash Battles.

Bring back the swans I say!

I was devastated when we lost the swans and got that dreadful P2P boat course thing as a replacement *shudders*

I have some happy memories of the swan boats, including my mate sitting sideways on the seat. having a mega sneeze and falling over the side.

It would appear that I belong to a very, very small minority of people who actually have a soft spot for battle galleons. I always try and fit a ride in even on the cold days, although admittedly it is usually very difficult to convince whoever is with me to accompany me. I love it for the simple fact that a good water fight just seems to bring out the little kid in everyone, one of my favourite features of theme parks. I think it's actually one of the best themed rides in the park (although there isn't really a huge amount of competition), and it certainly has the best queue line. Plus the bonus that there is almost literally never a queue, even on busy days. It's also the only ride at Towers apart from Ripsaw I've ever gotten re-rides on (four to be exact, on a particularly chilly day when there were very few brave enough to ride).

I also enjoy Battle Galleons. I'm 27 years old, but when me and my 2 brothers recently visited Alton Towers, we literally behaved like 12 year olds on and around the ride area.

Great for bringing out the kid in you, but as you say, you need the weather on your side. Or I have sometimes done it at the end of the day, so I can go back to hotel/B&B and get changed straight away =D
