PortAventura World: Ferrari Land

I can't be the only one who would be quite happy to never go on this pile of dreck, right? Credits be damned, I like my spine in one piece!

Oh wow! I can only assume that they asked Intamin to procude the coaster as cheaply as they possibly could.

:)

That 'straight' piece of track looks horrendous. It's not even even level, it looks like there's bumps all the way along right up to the incline.

At the speed it'll be going, this isn't going to be comfortable.

I'm going to be optimistic as I'm not a structural engineer and say that this won't be allowed to run with that degree of warping, bending or whatever that is. I personally think it's an unfinished coaster and that it will not look like that on launch day. (I hope) lol

Even non-visible dents have an effect on smoothness this would surely damage the train. Intamin - although have a checkered past - are a top coaster designer and have made many of these top-hat coasters. They would be a laughing stock if this was not intentional or it went un-noticed. Especially with one of their biggest faliures near by.

With any luck, this will be the ride that kills Intamin once and for all. Their rides are pointless now Mack have worked out how to do large intense launched coasters.

It may be the heat rising or the image quality that has made the image appear distorted. I'd like to that anyway.

If that really is the state of the track then we're in for a bumpy ride!

I'm not denying that they have made some cracking rides, but everything they can do, others do better.

Have they though? I mean I like Blue Fire but it is in no way more intense than a Intamin hydrolic launched coaster.

I detected a hint of hatred towards Intamin there grumpy but you cannot deny their exisance or their CV.

Mitch Hawker top steel Coasters, I'll highlight some for you ;)

1. Expedition GeForce
2. New Texas Giant
3. Intimidator 305
4. Bizarro
5. Skyrush
6. Maverick

7. Kawasemi
8. Shambhala
9. Nemesis
10. Iron Rattler
11. Katun
12. Piraten
13. Leviathan
14. Millennium Force
15. Pyrenees
16. Montu
17. Mega-Lite
18. Goliath (Walibi Holland)

19. Sky Scrapper
20. iSpeed

Not to mention they also hold the top spot for wooden coasters with El Toro. They are here to stay and Mack have a long way to go to compete with Intamin's track (ha! pun) record. :)

Let's not forget Bizzaro & Skyrush there, they do hold 80% of the top 5! Obviously the poll isn't the be all and end all, but there is no denying when they get it right... They really do get it right. It's just a shame that for every one they do get right, there's probably 3 that they didn't!

It would certainly be a shame not to have them, there are still some things they do that Mack haven't quite got yet.

Though I will happily admit, this does look awful!!

That they only split up the Mega-Lite clones shows how dumb that poll is... Especially as Alpina Blitz is pretty much just as good if not better due to the restraints... Then again, a poll that is purely based on giving higher scores to those who have ridden more rides (and rides that aren't involved on certain trips get ignored) will result in this...

Let alone putting GeForce top, always feels like Intamins get so over-rated purely because of one website's opinion...

Intamin make some cracking layouts, but they fail big time when it comes to "track and train".

I think we need to look at two things separately : The one thing is that no other manufacturer is responsible for so many excellent thrill coasters that were build in the last 10 to 20 years. They were pushing the limits like no other manufacturer. But while RMC is taking the cake for being the most innovative manufacturer (layout-wise) these days...Mack combines good layouts (getting better and better IMHO) with excellent quality, reliability and state of the art trains. So if we look at today...looking at the whole "package"...I really do think that Mack has already "overtaken" Intamin !:)

The way I would settle that suggestion by @GeorgeT is to simply ask @AstroDan if Helix places higher than all the Intamin coasters he's ridden.

He's the EP obsessive, if HE says there's better Intamins than Helix (at night) or Blufi, I would tend to value that opinion myself as a rather strong indicator.

I don't want to speak for Dan but I think he rates El Toro and Skyrush (at least) above Helix. Helix is a brilliant coaster and has some serious ejector airtime on a couple of the hills, but I still rate two Intamin's above it (El Toro and EGF).

Ultimately Intamin are a hit and miss manufacturer; they can be brilliant or they can balls things up. PA don't seem to be getting the best of Intamin.

:)

To make things clear : I was talking about the WHOLE package that parks get for their money...NOT just the chance of getting a good or maybe superb layout... but that in combination with a "not so small" risk of getting reliability problems...or a late opening... or bad restraints or whatever.

Sorry to say this...but in my opinion Intamin failed wayyy too often !
