2017: CBeebies Land Hotel

The name hardly makes much difference. I'm more concerned that this hotel is being built around a single IP, and one which only targets families with pre-school children. Wouldn't it have been better to have themed it in keeping with ATH but have the majority of rooms as 'CBeebies' themed? That way they can be refreshed if/when the IP is removed.

Positives however - will ATH finally become a more relaxed and adult orientated hotel?

From the look of the planning application it will be themed in keeping with the ATH. Therefore if they do decide to remove CBeebies at a later date it would only be interiors that need changing.

One reason I think they have gone for this theme in this location is it will be a seperate building to the existing hotels. Pre-school children have much earlier bedtimes, about 8pm I think so some peace and quite would be good. Therefore even if the 8-12yr olds are still running round at Splash Landings the younger families can sleep earlier in CBeebies Hotel.

The hotel should have built in the car park area between Crazy golf and Air/Galactica. There should have been a covered walkway between Splash and the new hotel, and a covered walkway then into the park to the Rollercoaster restaurant meaning you could get to it it from any of the 3 hotels.

The waterpark should have been expanded at the same time to accommodate the more people wanting to stay over. The spa should also be sorted out.

And I still dont get the need to build it now. The park is in the worst state it has ever been in and hotel bookings must be down given the amount of offers I am seeing (such as the 50% off offer I got emailed the other day for stays up to 5th August - this is PEAK time!!). Surely there is not the need to build another hotel. Having CBeebies themed rooms in the hotels to me would have been a better option.

There already is ibut I doubt many people want to pay themed room prices! I wonder if this means the rooms already in the ATH will be rethemed when the new hotel opens. Wouldn't make much sense to have them in a different hotel to the CBeebies one.

Probably not. The rooms in the new hotel are themed differently to the existing cheeses rooms in ATH. wouldn't rule it out for the future if they decide to use the rooms in ATH for something else (please bring back the ride themed rooms!)

One other thing that annoys me about this. The ATH rooms being refurbished is being ignored even further. It seems like now they've updated all the bathrooms they couldn't care less about the state of the explorer rooms. This really needs to be addressed so the whole hotel has rooms of the same quality as the Moon Voyager rooms.

By coincidence, I stumbled upon the building site for this today, on the hunt for King Ina's rocks.
Footings going in already.
It is right by the public footpath behind the hotel, strangely building is taking place on both sides of the footpath.
King Ina's rocks were amazing, two minutes walk from the Hotels, but a thousand miles away in atmosphere if you know what I mean. Brilliant walk.
Tried to find them with my mum when Corky first went up.

Ahh took me a long time to find King Inas rock but lovely once there. Like you say, peaceful and world away from the park, but then you realise how close you are to the Enchanted Village and hotels!!

Now that I've finally ticked off King Ina's rock, and have plans for the Chained Oak with family around scarefest, what other hidden features are there around the park to discover?

The "Henry Hound" fountain is cool, and some of us (Diogo?) are old enough to remember him as a mascot. My other favourite bit is the stepping stones under the waterfall at the top of the gardens. The gardens are now looking in a very sorry state, brambles and weeds all over the place, some of the smaller paths are now virtually impassable. They need to employ a tall fat northern gardener for a few months to sort out the gardens properly.

Off topic again, sorry.

Paragraphs used just to remain inconsistent.

It's a nice walk up around the top of the valley if you carry on going past the Swiss cottage. Bear off to the right rather than take the main trail and you go along a muddy upper path. Some very interesting rock work along there and the only place you can hear both dark forest and galactica music clearly simultaneously. It kind of goes out and back and you end up in Thirteens ride area. Loads of old 80's litter around there as well. Make sure you take the higher path though (it splits just below where the abandoned toilet block is).

Back on topic, i fully support the need for this kind of hotel. Anyone else with small children would would know just how noisy both hotels are at night when you're trying to get them to sleep. The tie up with the beeb has also been a massive success for the park. Its just that silly location. This seems a very last minute change of direction to an existing plan.

Cheers Matthew, I did that one about a month ago!
Back again on topic, as a mature adult who didn't breed, the main reason I have never stayed at any of the Towers hotels is because I don't want to suffer screaming brats if I am paying for a "premium" hotel room.
If this clears out the kids from the main hotel, I might get round to stopping.

I always hoped a hotel would be built in the VIP parking/behind towers Street and cbeebies land area. As was mentioned if the cbeebies hotel had been built here with access to cbbl it would have been ideal. But why not build the premium hotel there now and use Towers Street as an evening venue with bars, restaurants and entertainment? I can think of no better place for it and the monorail could run late between there and the hotels.

Couldn't get on express parking yesterday, it had a notice saying pre booked only, but it was half empty at 1pm.
Pain in the bottom, and they were losing money.
Gave me extra to spend on kebabs though.

Slightly off topic, but the stepping stones path was unusable at the beginning of July. we got down to the stones and then couldn't see where they were located!

Yes, it was a great adventure thank you!
Reach out with your foot and hope!
Very nearly stepped into the swamp.

The location is practical more than anything. For both planning, infrastructure and operational reasons.

In any case, they need to sort the park out if they intend to fill these hotels.
This is the exact market they don't have a problem attracting.

Hate to say it, but i'm really starting to despise Alton.
Stop giving them your money and go to Drayton.

I have no doubt that the CBeebies hotel will be popular, I was really referring to the accommodation offering as a whole.

The fact that they will have so many rooms to fill once this hotel is built could be a problem if the quality of the park continues to decline.

Understood, but I would suggest that this is a strategic move. Hotels are built for the long term and are funded as such.

I guess it shows that they are ultimately confident that there will be the market to support these new rooms, ergo - the park will recover and there will be folks who want to stay there.
