Disneyland Resort, California: General Discussion

ToT is still open yet it looks like this right now, so much for show:

You just know it's going to look awful once completed. Yet it will be deemed a 'success' because it's Marvel and people will queue to ride it.

Meanwhile, a Star Wars land construction update from Disney Geek:

I think we'll see things really taking shape early next year.

:)

Changes are afoot for Disney FastPass at Disneyland Resort. As detailed by Disney Parks Blog, FastPass will be added to Toy Story Mania in DCA and Matterhorn Bobsleds in Disneyland. However Disney are also going to introduce Disney MaxPass.

The MaxPass will cost $10 a day and allow guests to reserve their FastPass slots via the Disneyland mobile app rather than having to physically go to the attraction. It will also include unlimited photo downloads for the day. All members of a group will need to purchase the MaxPass to be able to make FastPass reservations and unlike at WDW you will not be able to make any before your visit.

:)

Despite the majority of construction work for Star Wars Land focussing on groundwork, foundations and low level structures, the first bits of rock work are taking shape. Photo credits go to Disney Geek:

... nah who am I kidding. Still not all that keen on how it looks! It's like the Alton 'pipes' phase all over again!

Looks utterly abysmal so far. I can only hope that the final product is somehow better. I still cannot believe that Disney are doing this.

In other news, Star Wars Land at Disneyland will also open in 2019.

EDIT:

I saw something earlier that made me giggle. An updated quote from Walt Disney:

“Disneyland will never be complete as long as there are more Marvel movies out there that we can incorporate into our theme parks!”

:)

Away from the farce that is GotG, Star Wars land is progressing well. It has really gone vertical now and framework for two AT-ATs has been put in place:

I assume this will be part of the battle ride rather than the Millennium Falcon simulator.

:)

It makes me think an oil rig looks good. Why would Disney do this....oh wait shoe horn+marvel=$$$$$.

Such a shame they have only got California Adventure looking more cohesive, then they do this!!!!

That's truly one of, if not the worst retheme of a ride I've ever seen. What an abomination. And this is Disney!

Paris won't get it for at LEAST 10 years... We'll be alright (I hope)...

I'd be more concerned (to tell the truth I'll be laughing) about Florida's changing... Would teach a lot of the goons for "not caring because it's only Cali"...

Moving away from ToT again and back towards Star Wars - construction is progressing well at Disneyland. Here you can see the bases for the Falcon ride systems:

And a wider angle also showing the building for the battle ride:

The Falcon ride is going to be based around a slow moving carousel system whereby there are multiple cabins/riding areas and each set of riders will be placed in front of dome screens (a la Forbidden Journey screens) and the cabins are like to be a robo-arm style system. There are meant to be 4 of the carousels but only 2 have been built so far and there is some debate as to whether the extra 2 have either been cut (therefore reducing the capacity by half) or are yet to be built.

The battle ride will be a trackless dark ride system using screen to supplement the ride experience; it is not expected to be a screen orientated ride.

'And on this week's Blue Peter we'll be showing you how to make a theme park ride out of pipe cleaners and drinking straws'

That's how I'd expect something like this to happen.

I'm sorry that actually made me lol! Bravo sir/madame! :D
